Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
Imo we win the war in Afghanistan when we don´t lose it. The allies are in danger of losing their face and like you and me noone really knows what they´re fighting for and if it´s worth the sacrifices. I´m convinced the political and military leaders are just trying to somehow get out of there witho...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
Pud, it´s not about wether drones can serve a pourpose in wars or not. They do under certain circunstances. What they don´t do - and that was what imo you suggested - is winning the war in Afghanistan on their own. Wether in one special case or the other civilians were or were not killed is not the ...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
I wouldn´t trust a single source from any camp but overall by having multiple sources of information we can get a general impression of the situation over there. Like many i use various sources to inform myself about the topic and have spoken to civilian and military personal to get more information...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
Reporters are an important part in conflicts as they serve the pourpose to inform the public - which finances the wars and sends it´s people to fight an die in them - what they are in and why. They also have an important role in making sure that ethics are not completely lost. When reporters are shu...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
I don´t think we should be over there trying to win their hearts and minds either and i agree with you that in such a tribal society chances of suceeding are slim. We should have never tried to go over there and westernize the place. Anybody even remotely familiar with afghanistan history and societ...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
I was away for the weekend. I think your contact is what you call "good trusted authority". You can be sure that other people do have their contacts as well concerning Afghanistan. In terms of drones, the are effective in certain aspects of war. The many reports of them killing civilians m...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
With some goodwill one could say that your post relates very losely to my post. What has you being some kind of cop or whatever to do with wanting to get the press out of Afghanistan to have a free field for your strange vision of how this conflict should be fought? Some hints for you: The way to le...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
Wow, pretty ignorant statements once again. I wonder if you´d guys say the same if you a) had any knowledge about the conflict and b) had experienced total war in your lifetime yourself Maybe you wouldn´t be such big advocates of mass killings if your family or wife had been the target of general ra...

Re: Afghanistan - how the press lies all the time...
Since years there is a trend to portray the situation in Afghanistan better than it is. The funny thing is, this is partly done to create the impression that the country is safe enough for the western troops to leave (the other important part of course is to show the public that its tax money brings...
