The problem with future James Bond films.

Post by Reservoir_Dog »

As much as I have appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed Daniel Craig as James Bond, I think there is going to be a problem moving forward with the franchise.
When Craig came on board they went back to the beginning and rebooted the story line. Craig has made 3 Bond films and has signed on for 2 more.
This creates a problem. Craig is 45 years old and so when he makes his final (?) Bond film he will be around 50 years old. This means that when Craig ends his Bond career, Bond will be 50 years old. He was clearly portrayed as an aging relic in Skyfall, and he's only going to get older.

Then what? There are really only 4 possibilities.

- Craig keeps going. (but seriously. who wants to see a 53 year old James Bond)
- They hire a younger actor and make films that take place "in between" the films Craig made. (But then you have to bring back Judi Dench who will be more than a little long in the tooth by then)
- They hire a younger actor and reboot the story line again. (No way that's going to happen)
- They end the franchise. (No way that's going to happen. Not after Skyfall made a billion dollars.)

I've been a huge Bond fan my whole life. But I think signing Craig to 2 more films instead of 1 may have been a big mistake.

Clive Owen should have been Bond.

+ while casino royale was very good, the two other suck, especially the last one which is a piece of crap.

To cerebral. Owen wouldn't have made a good Bond at all.

Well acclaimed by whom? It's crappy from the beginning to the end.

And movie critics are journalists, hence scumbags. Who care what they think?

Meh. They could just move the Bond to an earlier era, say 60s and get a younger double-shaggy onboard.
