IL2: Birds Of Prey: Missions
Re: IL2: Birds Of Prey: Missions
I almost hate to admit it, but other than getting used to the controls.. I have tried the demo on the 360 and I liked it.
Realistic is a bit touchy for takeoff, and will spin easy if not careful, but is on my to get list.

not only does the lack of Kb & M suck balls , but you get kids who are getting the hang of it try telling you its the best/better way to play

Oh how a fair amount of people must hate seeing you walk in a room... get a grip. It is a game. You stick you your packaged pc and the kids on the Xbox will not bother you as the 2 shall never meet online.
I have done the PC thing, and I enjoyed it. I am going to do the xbox thing, and enjoy it too. And now that I know it bothers you.. I will enlist all the "know it all kids" to come here and PM you their reviews and ideas on how to play it better.
Have a nice day.

Re: IL2: Birds Of Prey: Missions
I don't have any game consoles. Someone gave me one for christmans once back in the eighties, and I gave it to the eight-year-old son of a friend of mine, isn't that who they belong with?
I dont' play any video games on the computer. I just always did flight sims because I was interested in flying. I tried a few first-person shooter computer games, but they are all exactly the same with just different or better graphics are they not? In other words, boring.
What I did do though, for four hours last night, was take a cover off the transmission on my wife's car, brazed up a hole that got punched in it, using my oxy/ acetylene torches, then I put it back on and test drove it to make sure it didn't leak.

Re: IL2: Birds Of Prey: Missions
Why the console hate? It's just a very specialised computer after all. I do think most games on them suck, but I think most games for pc suck as well. At least lately. What I would not like about IL-2 or any other flight sim on a console are the controls, the gamepads don't cut it in my opinion. I also don't like the fact you can't use mods, even the pre-hack approved skins, missions and campaigns that I still enjoy with Il-2 46. Leaving aside the more sophisticated mods we had/have for games like Silent Hunter, and MSFS.
That said there are some fun console games out there so as the cliche goes "to each his own".

Re: IL2: Birds Of Prey: Missions
I'm not anti consoles, my kids have a few and for certain games they are better ( GTA, FIFA, sports games etc ) but I just can't use the controller at all. My son owns me at CoD 4 on his PS3, but when we did a LAN game with him on my gaming PC and me on the wife's laptop the roles were totally reversed ( smacked him down bigtime ). So for me it is all about the controller.
If a decently immersive flight sim came out on a console, and I could get a flight stick and keyboard or panel, I might play it but I like my PC gaming as I can also alt tab out of a game when dead, do a mail or two, check a forum etc then jump back to the game.
I'm still open minded about Birds of Prey, do they have a PS3 demo version at all ?
