Fox news biased? More balanced than all the rest

Post by ruggbutt »

White House communications director Anita Dunn recently said the following about Fox News:
What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party, They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is.
This was, of course, reported on Fox News:

Interestingly enough, despite the comments being made on CNN, there is no article that I can find on cnn.com about it.

Anyways, on to the point - Is Fox News bias as Anita Dunn claims, or is Fox News simply not as in love with Obama as the other major cable news networks (CNN, MSNBC)?

Before you answer, consider the following:

Everyone says CNN is fair, but are they?

It seems pretty clear that CNN portrayed McCain in an overall negative light compared to Obama. Is that bias at work?

How about MSNBC though?

Well, that's far worse. Only 14% unfavorably coverage for Obama yet 73% unfavorable coverage for McCain? And people say Fox News is bias?

Well, is Fox News bias, let's see:

Wow, those numbers look, well, fair and balanced...

I do believe the Fox News Channel has a lot of far Right talking heads (Beck and Hanity) with no Left voice to add balance, but their actual news coverage is for the most part very good - far more "fair and balanced" then CNN or MSNBC.

Fox news, pfffft, the real problem, the serious concern is the white house, the top of the food chain in the states announced, its considers a news station often critical of the administration is considered to be combative?
NEVER before has an administration publicly attacked a news group- I guess the chosen one figured the fall out was minimal when he mentioned a private citizen by name (Rush), so this is the next step.
Then CNN attacks SNL with a fact check about a comedy skit.
Wheres it stop? And I'm being serious, with outlawing saying anything negative about Obama?

whether it shocks you or not, Rugg, I agree with you. I tend to watch Fox during the purer News parts of
the evening, if watching news at all. At 8 pm, when the talking heads hit the airwaves here in the East,
I couldn't care less, but their news coverage is pretty good. The only hint of blatant bias is in the ticker at the bottom, which is close to whacked in how it portrays right v. left. Yes, the panel on Special Report tilts heavily right, but they do put moderate voices on there, and some of the conservatives on that panel are bright guys.

Last year of bush began it, and that obama has taken it and run.

Nothing on Fox is balanced in any way. A few weeks ago Chris Wallace had a panel of people on about the health care plan. When the chief doctor of, I believe, the AMA didn't say it was a bad idea; Wallace stuttered and asked the same question again as if the guy didn't give the wright answer. I lost all respect for him at that point.

Yeah, Fox is balanced news.
