Insurance Update

Post by callmeslick »

update, for the sake of honest disclosure:
I was contacted today by the folks at Healthcare.gov, with some adjustments and options I originally did not have. First off, my daughter HAS to go onto my family policy,as she is currently under 26 years old(24), and is on a government subsidized policy from the state of Delaware. Second, as she and grandkids(3) are ALL on my tax return for 2013, the ceiling to NOT get subsidies goes from $56,000 to $116.000, rendering me eligible for a $600 monthly subsidy, where I previously did not qualify for anything. Finally, Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Delaware offered a new Platinum option which I could choose. The net result:
I have a policy which covers myself, my wife and daughter. The GROUP deductable is $600, copay is 10% with a GROUP out-of-pocket cap of $2500. After that, I have 100% coverage. Primary Dr visits have a 10 dollar copay, specialists $20, meds range from $8-30. My monthly tab for this plan will be a bit over $1100, a savings of 600 from my current plan. Thank-you, ACA. I can only wonder what deals will emerge as more people sign up. I note that 250,000 went to the website yesterday morning alone. Some liability!!

:)

How did they (Healthcare.gov) contact you? email? or phone?
Were you able to "keep your doctor"?
Perhaps, I misunderstood? They are "forcing" you to put your 24 yr old daughter and grandkids on "your" plan? Not, that it's a bad thing? I just find that particularly interesting in an odd sort of way?

What happens in two years, when she turns 26? What effect will that have on yer plan financially?

You really ought to be on T.V. with this....ObamaCare could stand the good "press".

I sure hope you wrote down your policy number and keep it in a safe place....from what I've heard/read today....many folks who honestly think that they successfully signed up? May in fact, not be signed up.

BTW.....none of this is intended to take a shot at you. I hope it works for you and yours.

email. I didn't give them the phone or snail mail option on sign-up
Were you able to "keep your doctor"?
yes, with Highmark, I can go to any damned doctor in the state of Delaware.
Perhaps, I misunderstood? They are "forcing" you to put your 24 yr old daughter and grandkids on "your" plan? Not, that it's a bad thing? I just find that particularly interesting in an odd sort of way?
my daughter HAS to be on the plan, rather than accept State aid, since I am able to pay for her out of my pocket.

What happens in two years, when she turns 26? What effect will that have on yer plan financially?
she will have to get her own insurance. Depending on her financial independance, it could be a state plan or employer, whatever. The effect on us? I suppose it could be cheaper, but, then again, my wife and I will be two years older, so no real idea.
You really ought to be on T.V. with this....ObamaCare could stand the good "press".
no one needs to see my mug on the TV, but I strongly suspect that similar stories, from folks of more meager means will be cropping up VERY regularly over the next several months. When this thing works, it does so very well.
I sure hope you wrote down your policy number and keep it in a safe place....from what I've heard/read today....many folks who honestly think that they successfully signed up? May in fact, not be signed up.
I have the number, trust me. Highmark is supposed to contact me(for my check) by next Tuesday, at which time, I would contact them if I didn't hear from them.
BTW.....none of this is intended to take a shot at you. I hope it works for you and yours.
didn't read it that way, hence I responded. It was a far better deal than I expected. I would have been ok with paying what I'm paying now, for the same coverage, but getting more for less is great!

Again....I'm not taking shots....saw this and it appears to be alarming?

ADMINISTRATION ADMITS DEFEAT ON OBAMACARE BACKEND
With millions facing lapses in insurance coverage because of ObamaCare, the administration is admitting another technical defeat. Unable to complete the portion of the system that connects enrollees with the insurers, the administration announced a “workaround” Tuesday. From Reuters: “Health plans will estimate how much they are owed, and submit that estimate to the government. Once the system is built, the government and insurers can reconcile the payments made with the plan data to ‘true up’ payments…”

I've been giving the whole debacle a lot of read....and I understand that you along with a lot of others, really have no choice in signing up. I certainly don't fault anybody, who does or does not sign up. Access to health care is a serious business for those who care. Everything, everywhere tangibly points that those in charge of O-care, did not care. Lied about it. Covered it up. Now trying to break their own law, to fix it. I just find it really interesting that Harry Reid's staff is exempted and can keep their government policies and you&yours, have to change and have to take "their" word, that it's cheaper and really, no shit really....despite what you read and hear? You're covered.

I sincerely wish/hope that you and yours are truly covered and not part of the cover-up.

and, Pud, note that I am true to my word on this subject, and have tried to report honestly along the process, as I said I would back at the end of the summer.
As for Slappy, he seems to be hell-bent on demonstrating why it was a wise decision to generally ignore him, and why I would urge all to shun hm: nothing to offer, nothing to contribute to discourse, nothing but childish stupidity. Gotta give him points for unerring consistency.

Callmeshit, you lack any credability.
In short you are a compulsive liar whom
