I remember taking this one in college.
One of the most overrated battles in history ... but one of the greatest PR jobs in military history.

absolutely. They massively outnumbered a relative handful of German conscripts, who fled. However, lacking any significant victories of ANY sort, and a few key political decisions to be made and France sitting on the fence, they HAD to turn it into a PR spectacle(for the day). It boosted morale, hence recruitment, convinced the French we might have enough fight for them to stick it to the Brits, and had massive military import, after the fact.
