dammit, someone has to post something here.
On a music-related note, this month's AARP Magazine(shills for old folks here in the US),
the cover features Bruce Springsteen. Thanks, now I really feel old.

I'm building a tube amp. I just got the final part (the power transformer) yesterday.
I'm a virtuoso with a soldering iron!
OK, not really. But I can solder shit together. We'll see.

assuming you, and your dwelling, survive this, will you take orders for
a Single End Triode?? Something like around 5 watts/channel?? Apparently,
Klipsch speakers really like them.....
Seriously, have you ever seen the prices for some of those SETs?? Sheesh!
And, then, with tube rolling costs over time.....damn.
Re: please, one of you talented types post here!
I'm building almost exactly what you describe. Except it will be 6 watts. And it could have cost as little as $150 but I splurged on a few parts to make it around $200. It's based on a plinker tube. a compactron 6LU8 which has a triode and pentode in the same bottle. Ultra-linear and single ended. To be honest, I'm not sure if the pentode is triode strapped or not.callmeslick wrote:GOYA wrote:I'm building a tube amp. I just got the final part (the power transformer) yesterday.

Sure, I could build you one. But, depending on what you want, you'd have to supply the parts. If you want a 300B, even the raw parts might break the bank. Of course, that's more than 5 watts. I think I would like to build a nice 2A3 amp next.

Maybe this forum should be called science and tinkering.
Re: please, one of you talented types post here!
Slick, google the RH84 amp and see what you think.

reading on AudioKarma seems to show that amp to be a very good, reasonably
priced amplifier. Hmmm.
