Geithner to Remain as Treasury Chief

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/08 ... ury-chief/

Pink Floyd
Money lyrics

Money
Get away
You get a good job with good pay and you're okay
Money
It's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team

Money
Well, get back
I'm all right Jack
Keep your hands off of my stack
Money
It's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the high-fidelity first class travelling set
I think I need a Lear jet

Money
It's a crime
Share it fairly
But don't take a slice of my pie
Money
So they say
Is the root of all evil today

Old Pudfark sez: " An oldy...but, goody good bullshit... "

If there is anyone to fire it's Bernanke first.

name possible replacements, Pud and Nic. Toss out a few names if you wish. I'm quite sure the incumbants aren't perfect, but can't see anyone doing much better. The core issues they are facing include:

1. Massive financial crapstorm from the whole mortgage thing. This was out of either Fed or Treasury control,
from any administration. It stemmed from a combination of sheer greed and the public's gullibility. The fed
could have rapidly raised rates to deflate the bubble but this would have been political suicide.
2. An economy based on developed technology, mostly. An aging and incomplete infrastructure and, thanks
to the worldwide boom in communications, wildly increasing efficiency. With a workforce increasing, yet
companies needing ever-fewer workers, any economy would be heading tits-up over a long run unless they
were constantly bringing top shelf new products to the world market. Once again, Treasury and Fed have
very little control.
3. A political class that is focused mostly on re-election and an electorate who still largely pays no attention.

tough sledding for anyone in either job to try and look good. Jest sayin'

Respectfully....
The "appearance" of honesty?
In either fellow?
"Appears" to be lacking...

However, both of them appear to look good on TV..
Agreed it's a crappy job, right now...
Credibility (no pun) now, is more important than looking good.
Jest sayin....

Aren't the bolded parts the reasons why the fed is supposed to be independant from the dumbass politicians? When the president of such an institution loses any independency, and starts playing the game of the politicians then you know something bad is bound to happen.

Here ya go Nic...a little bad...tongue and cheek humor...Cuz, you know, it don't really affect Europe....much.

Don't Panic: The U.S. Credit Downgrade Changes Nothing

Blah..Blah..Blah-de-dah....though worth a read...

Then there is the last sentence..(Damn, I wish Rugg was here)
"Of course, there's always Canada to invest in... or move to."

Nic, it's unbelievable?
The amount of excuses?
BS...
Fabricated lies....

Nobody seems to give a damn about the effects on/to Europe....
Yet everyone of the Lib's talks about Global this or that....

Much better song:

Serj Tankian - Money

Money!
All for money!
Save your money!
Hide your money!
Stuff your money!
Hump your money!
Keep your money!
All for money...!

Waning patience,
Peoples appetite,
Disposition,
This possession,
Dispossessed from all the attractions,
Dancing bears of eroticism,
Self-absorbed delusion,
Inclusion of dysfunction,
I now await the triumphant,
Lost baggage, train station...

The causes of ineptitude,
Can be traced to my mandatory noun,
The causes of my servitude,
Can be traced to the tyranny of...

Money!
All for money!
Make your money!
Hide your money!
Stuff your money!
Hump your money!
Save your money!
All for money...!

My final surrender,
Away from inclusion,
I now await the triumphant,
Left baggage, train station...

The causes of ineptitude,
Can be traced to my mandatory noun,
The causes of my servitude,
Can be taced to the tyranny of a noun,
The causes of ineptitude,
Can be traced to my mandatory noun,
The causes of my servitude,
Can be traced to the tyranny of...

Money!
All for money!
Make your money!
Hide your money!
Stuff your money!
Hump your money!
Save your money!
All for money!

Money, money, money, money...
"How about no, you Crazy Dutch Bastard?"

I Need Some Money
(John Lee Hooker)

The best thing in life is free,
But you can give it to the birds an' bees
I need some money, need some money
Oh, yeah, what I want

Your love gimme such a thrill,
But your lovin' don' t pay my bills
I need some money, need some money
Oh, yeah, what I want

I need some money, honey
I need some money right away
I need some money bad
I need some money
Oh, yeah, what I want

Money don't get ever'thing it's true
But what it don't buy, daddy, I can't use
I need money, I need money, yeah
What I want

[Spoken:]
I need some money, honey
I need some money so bad
All o' my bills behind
I need some money right now
I know your love is good, baby

I need some money, oh yeah
What I want
What I want
