Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson believed that the 2nd amendment of the American Constitution should be revisited every 20 years because he understood that it would become dated.
Who here thinks they are smarter than Thomas Jefferson?

Thomas Jefferson
"No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
Proposed Virginia Constitution, June, 1776.
"The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, ... or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press."
Letter to Major John Cartwright (5 June 1824).
Silly Canadians.....

Thomas Jefferson: ”The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
Re: Thomas Jefferson.
Are you referring to the Constitution in general, or the 2nd amendment specifically RD; you should probably quote something.

Re: Thomas Jefferson.
So Pud, what does it tell you that one of the founding fathers of your personal political ideals (Jefferson's ideals eventually became the Republican party) believed that the 2nd amendment was a dated and evolutionary amendment?
Re: Thomas Jefferson.

Re: Thomas Jefferson.
I do believe he also thought the Constitution should be revisited as well. But he specifically mentioned the 2nd amendment.Barfly wrote:Are you referring to the Constitution in general, or the 2nd amendment specifically RD; you should probably quote something.
