Had my 20th birthday and Christmas in Viet Nam.
Got back from there, tried college off and on for a few years, had some problems fitting in "the mold" went trucking. Had a couple of very eventful and very exciting extra curricular "contract" tours "down south". Made some money and was lucky to get out alive. Worked with a couple of gents that spent some time on the Eastern Front in WWII.
Drove trucks for 30 years. 80-100+ hour weeks. LOTS of good road dope. The early 80's are kind of blurry. I quit the road dope in '84 Finally woke up and decided that I'd fucked off 30 years and not much to show other than a lot of toys.
Now I woik's for da gub'mint. Don't do much work, I gots a POSITION. The aforesaid POSITION entails a lot of bullshit, paperwork, bullshit, more paperwork, did I mention bullshit? OK. I spend most of my day driving between 100 and 200 miles all over my county chasing our low bid contractors. I keep up with the work they do, how they do it, when they do it, how much they do, and quite regularly make them do whatever they fucked up over again. The re-works are on their nickel. In addition to that I get bitched at a lot by the motoring public and when one of them waves with all five fingers it is a high point of my day.
7 more years and I can tell them to poke it. IF I don't get killed by some teenaged cunt texting on a cell phone or some drunken asshole.
For all you French, I'll be 65.
