Remember in November
Re: Remember in November
There are no places where one can find actual thinking liberals, able to spout something other than the pre-digested pablum read here from the usual suspects.
I'm bored too.

Here is a refreshing reminder of what is boring most voters......

Re: Remember in November
I'd think that you would think that was brilliant comeback since you wrote pretty much all of it.callmeslick wrote:Wullie wrote:There are no places where one can find actual thinking liberals, able to spout something other than the pre-digested pablum read here from the usual suspects.
I'm bored too.Wonderful job! A 'no, you are' comeback, and a pretty freaking lame one at that. I'd say I would expect better from you, but really, I don't.

Re: Remember in November
ripping off my original language is a good deal of what makes your response lame, even amongst the 'no, you are' genre(which, in case you weren't aware, is sort of a bottom feeder in terms of Interweb style). Nice Dr. Phil pic, though, in your 2nd comeback attempt. Kudos!

Well Slick, it do tickle me to see you whine....in a political thread. You and yours have less than a week to wait..... You were told by several folks here, that the American people would not put up with your crap. The entire time you were in denial. Now, you are in the Sports Zone. Where you belong.

Desperation....at it's finest moment....this is one of the reasons, some folks hauled ass to the Sports Zone....which probably, should be renamed? MoveOn.org

Re: Remember in November
Pud, folks here(some of them) have known me, and my opinions for YEARS. I am generally avoiding a lot of PL threads because they are not up to the level of intellect we have been fortunate to have seen here. What you don't get is that a lot of folks preceded me in that. While I resisted it, I have to concede they were right:
the drivel from you all will not stop. It's not about debate, it's about trying to reason with idiots. Watch. Sometime, someone with a bit of grey matter, who is conservative(CUDA, perhaps Ruggie now that the weather cools, etc) will engage my interest. But lame-ass Beck rehashes, folks bellowing about Communism and then demonstrating that they can't define the word, racist bullshit and other ignorant tripe just aren't worth the effort.
remember this in November.....American politics swings like a pendulum. Let's see what this new crop, be they in the majority or the minority, actually get done. And, you heard it here: if Obama can work to satisfy the Progressive(left) wing of his Party, and avoid a Primary challenge, he wins EASILY in 2012, as the public likes him twice as much as either party's Congressional delegation.

Re: Remember in November
you see, Pud(and Wullie, if you care), the problem is that the nation faces REAL, BIG, LONG-TERM problems, and your suggested approach does not(it's been proven) address them. Here's a short quote, from an article about a study group that has been advising the government about future economic growth(to little avail), that sums up my current mood:
“Here is a little dose of reality about where we actually rank today,” says Vest: sixth in global innovation-based competitiveness, but 40th in rate of change over the last decade; 11th among industrialized nations in the fraction of 25- to 34-year-olds who have graduated from high school; 16th in college completion rate; 22nd in broadband Internet access; 24th in life expectancy at birth; 27th among developed nations in the proportion of college students receiving degrees in science or engineering; 48th in quality of K-12 math and science education; and 29th in the number of mobile phones per 100 people.
“This is not a pretty picture, and it cannot be wished away,” said Vest. The study recommended a series of steps — some that President Obama has already initiated, some that still need Congress’s support — designed to increase America’s talent pool by vastly improving K-12 science and mathematics education, to reinforce long-term basic research, and to create the right tax and policy incentives so we can develop, recruit and retain the best and brightest students, scientists and engineers in the world. The goal is to make America the premier place to innovate and invest in innovation to create high-paying jobs.
You’ll have to Google it, though. The report hasn’t received 1/100th of the attention given to Juan Williams’s remarks on Muslims.
A dysfunctional political system is one that knows the right answers but can’t even discuss them rationally, let alone act on them, and one that devotes vastly more attention to cable TV preachers than to recommendations by its best scientists and engineers.
don't take the fact that I'm more interested in football than in discussing Beck's or Hannity's 'hot button topic' with you all personally. When you figure out how to think for yourselves, and can come up with a plan that addresses the above issues, and others(like how we cut taxes, continue two wars and magically lower the deficit without an irreversable crash into Depression), post your thoughts here. Until then, I'll generally pass. You all could join the weekly fray and pick football outcomes, as well. Hell, I'm the only damned American involved at the moment, but the pool is a tradition here and by gum, we're going to continue it.
