you are in favor of spending billions of dollars to reward folks too stupid to not borrow more than they could afford, and seemingly unaware that they were paying WAY too much for the real estate they were buying?

I'm saying if you were going to give away trillions, put it where it's going to do the most good. I don't condone socialism or free handouts but in the context of what's already been done what is a better idea: give it straight to those that need the help or the greedy banks. Cuz they started all this shit with a little help from Reagan and a whole lotta help from your namesake.

Anyway, getting back on the original topic...."Oh SHIT!!" is right. Why ain't the government "fessing" up? That's what is bothering me... Kinda wish we had kept the SR-71 program, would have been nice to have given the Chinks a little late afternoon sonic boom....in Peking. There seems to be a huge cover-up in progress. I'll bet that when Pelosi goes home, she sleeps in the wine cellar...

they sure aren't the Dems bills, they are the People's bills. Or IOU's, if you wish. Both parties share blame, but mostly the public who accepted it for 6 or 8 years, as the debts kept going up, with the economy on a bubble. Oh, and I think you'll find that Military Threats and economic vulnerability go hand in hand, when one looks at history.

there could be a host of reasons....some purely military, but others based on geopolitics. Chinese origin?
Korean? I could see keeping items like that way away from the press in the shortrun.

Both strands within this thread are interesting, but isn't that Chinese Sub article from 2007? Still, a modern diesel electric pulling off that stunt is interesting. We tracked and chased all that fancy looking, Overrated Russian attack sub-junk quite easily all throughout the cold war - now we can't detect and track a fairly conventional sub. Didn't an analyst state at the time that this was a big a shock as Sputnik? Time to upgrade our stuff? Maybe they let that sub past the screen...
