The game warden that had the area where I lived was tough old son of a bitch. BTW, a Texas Game Warden is the most powerful law enforcement officer in this state. They can search EVERYTHING in your house and or vehicle without a warrant if they suspect you of a game or fishing violation. It's in the book.
That old white haired coot knew everybody and pretty much everything that went on in 4 counties. He also knew who was hurtin and who wasn't. He never said a word to those of us that were shooting to eat. The city boys that came up for deer season and got out of line had a tough row to how when he stepped into their camps. He even waited a couple of years to ask me about an incident with some city boy night hunters that found out the hard way how far an '06 will shoot and what tracers look like spanking off the road in front of their truck as they are making a hasty exit stage left. He thought it hilarious. Turns out the turds gave themselves up to the city cops. The city cops got him out of bed and then the city boys changed their story. They told him somebody had tried to kill them. He asked where and they described my part of the world. He told 'em "He wasn't trying to kill you. If he was, NOBODY would ever know where you would be spending eternity except him." He went on to tell me that they packed up and haven't been back.
He's retired now and I heard he was writing a book. I may have to check and see if I'm mentioned.

pretty much the same here in PA.....having heard what lengths they will go to for fishing violations, I can imagine the same is the case for hunting/game matters.
