I like Palin for the reasons stated above. Is she electable ?

I'll disagree, and for the following reason: talking the past week to two friends who are GOP big-timers(one elected official, the other major donor and backer of Haley Barbour) both used the same phrase about Palin-
"She is now(and this was immediately after her post-Tucson video) officially dead in the water, permanently"
They both said she would never get any financial backing from the party, and no one would come near her more than they would an electric fence after the stupid 'blood libel' statement. Pissed off every Jewish GOP supporter, and showed all comers that she is clearly unable to learn even basic information before opening her trap. It's over.

great advice. I am as tall as you, and around 240, largely flab to be honest. What I've lacked of late is time in the woods or swimming in the ocean. A few months should rectify that, and if my dear wife would stop making cookies and homemade Italian food it would probably help.

Not that she will just go away, Res, but she is over in terms of ever being electable. Her numbers were already bad enough, with close to 50% negatives and only 20% positives, but that video response was so self serving and ill-conceived as to wound her political career as an office-seeker permanently.

Well, if the extreme right loses it's figurehead (and if they don't find another rather quickly) perhaps there's a chance that the deep polarization in American politics may ebb a little and calmer heads can start to be heard over the white noise of the extremist hate mongering.

one can hope. As it was, I think the GOP is, behind the scenes, going through some serious power stuggle type stuff. Now, my friends are pretty smug that it won't get out of hand, but their reasons for that would piss off the Tea Party types to no end. The next two years in US politics might prove, at best, wierd.

Palin still interests me...for the reasons I stated.
No arguments with the other insights on "possibilities"...and causes...
I do not know of any other potential candidate? Who is as open and
honest as that lady. I wish we had 535 more, just like her.

Personally, I am worn out with all of the "excuses" the other
politicians make....
