Bought that old barge for the kid. Paid a thousand bucks for it. It would start and drive but had numerous small issues. He actually wanted a 4 door....... Kids nowadays..
We've been having fun getting it back up on its feet. Plain Jane 289 with a 2bbl and auto. I call the paint "grandmother green". His biggest problem is buying gas for that thing.
Cars just don't seem as important to kids these days as they were to me when I was his age. Oh well.
We were all about cars in my days. I went to high school in Santa Barbara Ca. The school parking lot looked like a hot rod show. We cruised the main drag every night, and all night on weekends.
The best cars got the best looking girls. They were so shallow, but who cares.

with the price of gas and insurance, most kids are lucky to be able to afford operating a vehicle, let alone buying and maintaining a hot one.

probably still true, among some parts of the female populace. Then again, those that weren't shallow were the ones worth pursuing, IMHO.
