Dating gets to be less accurate the further you go back.
There are many ways to date things. Tree ring dating is
only good for about 24,000 years but in the regions where such
old wood is available it is accurate to 1/2 a year.
C-14 (radio carbon) dating was always troublesome but is still used in some cases.
A combination of several methods including radio active decay and strata analysis
allow dating to reach way back.
Errors are a part of the game. For instance the KT boundary, when the BIG meteor
hit about 65 million years ago can only be dated plus or minus 1 million years. But
rest assured it was not a few thousand years ago.
By the way, we know the KT boundary is the same age world wide as it shows
up clearly in any rock exposing it, and it has the same chemical signature.
Iridium in particular is in abundance in the KT strata. Iridium is part of the remains
of the massive object that dug the Chicxulub Crater

this will seem like a semantic quibble, but the difference is very important: I feel the Origin of Species is
UNPROVEN, but hardly unprovable. My point was that there is so much time to piece together, hundreds of thousands of years.
Another statement you made, Cuda, which isn't quite accurate, is that we cannot find record of human structures or the like before 8000 years ago. We have cave drawings, and similar collections of fragmented artifacts that go back far more than 6000 BC, I think you would find. As Dawg tried to point out, most stuff just doesn't undergo the proper conditions needed to fossilize, so the record will be both fragmented and skewed towards human life under certain climatic/environmental conditions.

We don't know how God works. Only he does. If you prove the earth is older than 6000 years. It doesn't prove the Bible wrong. If the Bible is to be proved wrong. You don't do it by showing fossils millions of years old.

You only need to go back 6000 years for the Bible. I still don't see anybody after all these years proven what's in the Bible is wrong, and never happened.

Have you ever thought that God created earth and the prehistoric age, and then man and earth as we know it now? Sort of a stage 2 if you will. It explains almost everything, and brings it together so everybody can understand.

Keep in mind we're talking about a supreme being that can do anything.

An interesting thing about ancient novels like the Bible is that Archaeology
and the bible sometimes agree. For instance the "Great Flood" which most now
agree was the catastrophic filling of the Black Sea from the Mediterranean
occurred about 5600 BC or about 7600 years ago. This was almost certainly
the birth of the myth of Noah and other flood myths.

Note that the dating of the great flood in the Black Sea is be several methods
and since it is a close match to the Biblical date I doubt the Holy Rollers will
contest it.

The only thing the Rollers don't like is that it was not a world wide flood.
I'll bet it was a world wide flood to some poor goat farmer living in the area 7600 years ago!
And I bet that same goat farmer thought he had every animal in the world on his raft.
Heck, he had every animal in his farm yard, what more was there to be had?

The problem is the method of dating the collections of fragmented artifacts is suspect.

suspect to the tune of orders of magnitude in error? No way, absolutely no way. Can carbon isotope dating be off by, say a matter of 5 to 10 percent? Perhaps, but there is no way anyone can claim the earth, or even life on it, is a matter of a few thousands years old. Well, they can, but the claim is ridiculous.
