Re: This officer has it all wrong
Well, this is gonna take a bit...and I'm not gonna argue with ya....
I did watch 3/4's of the video...up till they arrested the fella with the gun
and put him in the back seat of the patrol car.
1. They did not "pull over" the vehicle...it was already stopped/parked and one occupant was standing
in close proximity to the vehicle.
2. The first person the officers should have dealt with? The person standing outside the vehicle, they did.
3. The second person they should have dealt with? The person behind the wheel, they didn't.
4. The moment the officer entered the vehicle or came into immediate proximity of the person with the
handgun license? The person with the gun is required by law to announce to the officer that he is
carrying a weapon. That person did not. Note: When the officer was searching the backseat area of
the vehicle? The "driver", person with the gun, said nothing and was in violation of the law.
5. Other circumstances: One passenger was a known and convicted prostitute. The vehicle was parked in the
dark at an unknown time. Reasonable suspicion and probable cause existed for further investigation and or
detention for the officers safety. For whatever reason, the Dispatcher was very slow in running registration
on the vehicle, the officers should have been told, nearly immediately, that the registered owner of the car
was licensed to carry a weapon. The failure of the licensed weapon holder to immediately identify his
status? Escalated the entire situation and appears (to me) to result in his rightful arrest...
More to say..but must take dogs to vet now....standby...

Ok, back from the vet...dogs got their annual shots and check up...all well there.

My opinion of what I saw and heard:
It was a legal investigation.
From a safety standpoint it was atrocious.
I believe, the verbally abusive officer was scared and
angry, when he realized what could have happened.
The officer wrongfully/verbally only, took out his frustration,
because of his careless actions, on the suspect/weapon holder.
There is no excuse for that.
I did not view any physical impropriety from anyone.
Watching any TV show, no matter how reportedly real it is said to be?
99% of the time it is staged partially, if not completely.
This I know for a fact. I was once asked to allow "Cops" to ride along
and film me. I very politely declined/refused. I took great interest at
the waste of resources permitted by our understaffed Police Department
in allowing "Cops" to film in our jurisdiction, it compromised the citizens
safety and officers safety. All for other peoples entertainment at other folks
expense. It also interests me how folks can watch a TV show that is marginally
10% accurate? And develop/cultivate, a 100% knowledge of the facts.
"Why can't folks get out their car here?"
Well, they can if they are permitted by the officer.
Here, when confronted by an officer?
You do what he says...If you don't? You do what he "makes" you do.
That answer above? Probably rankles yer feathers a bit....it does others as well.
However, most folks don't understand that the officer, upon approach, is totally
responsible for your safety and actions. Towards yourself, himself and others present.
To put it bluntly...Officers control people and situations. They don't moderate them.
I would take an educated guess at yer last question..."over here evertime i have been pulled over i have met them at the back of mine and never had an issue". Somewhat, you answered your own question/statement.
The operative words "over here", yes, over there...It is my understanding that firearms are less prolific over there and possibly less of a perceived threat to your officers. It is also possible, that culturally, your folks are more compliant and respectful than some of ours. It also "might" be true? Percentage wise, factored by population, more officers are killed/murdered in the U.S. than your location. Again, to put it bluntly, those that I told to stay in their car and didn't? Got to stay in my car, every time.
Summation:
Typical shitty situation...exacerbated by the "licensed conceal carry" suspect and his non-compliance with the law and a very unprofessional conduct by an officer. My experience dictates to me, that things are probably going to end up this way? At the minimum? The suspect will lose his carry permit permanently and the officer is going to take an unpaid vacation of some duration.
This was my way of doing things.....
When circumstances permitted...
I always asked folks/suspects nicely to do what was necessary.
If they did not do as asked? I told them nicely what to do.
If they did not do as told? I told them in a damned ugly manner, what to do and when to do it.
If they did not do it? I physically made them do it, right then. Every time, no exceptions.
Should you have anymore questions Fats....fire away...

At issue here is the violent out of conrol and abusive manner the cop displayed.
The nuts and bolts of the "stop" are not at issue nor are the basic facts.
As evidence of the violent hissy fit is the lovely diatribe about 10 shots from
his 40 cal. He is at least guilty of criminal threatening at that point.
My feeling is to fire the abusive cop and let him continue his career as a body builder.
