"Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum called on Washington to pass a balanced budget amendment and mocked the Obama administration for disputing the S&P analysis.
“So, in addition to blaming President Bush for all of its problems, now the White House is blaming S&P – but this happened on the president’s watch – and he has to deal with it,” he said. “I guess President Obama is left to cling to the “hope” that a mathematical error caused this. Is that the ‘hope’ the president was talking about?”

Deficit...
Anything else you can think of...

I'm not really certain any western government deserves as much as AA-plus, given the pace and uncertainty of modern, global economics.

Pud, citing Rick Santorum is a hoot. There are several reasons why he got booted as Senator up here in PA, not the least of which is that he is as dumb as a brick.

also, my breakdown is this, Pud. Tea Party is responsible for rigid lack of compromise, leading to No Budget,
No stimulus, reckless processes leading to debt ceiling raise, and absolutely ZERO legislation which could in any way lead to job growth down the road.

Obama might be guilty of trying to compromise with loons, but it would seem he is the only one with any vision that gets us out of the economic doom we have set up for ourselves long-term. You see, my fears aren't about what the picture is at present....it is what it is. I see a nation with no plan, no infrastructure, no educational base and no will to move into the future in a global economy. The world, as things currently stand, will eat the US alive, and pick over the bones of the carcass. The wealthy will survive just fine, likely in a diminished capacity, sort of like some of the older families of Europe do at present. The rest of you all...
well, I feel sorry for you a bit, but really, I can't see that you haven't allowed it to happen out of ignorance and greed.

Ya didn't read the link...did ya?
I know..(sigh) The dog ate your homework and
it's the Tea Party's fault....

I do see (above) that you adroitly avoided the word "SPENDING" and
the responsibility that goes along with it...like paying for it...
Which by the way? When y'all controlled 2/3's of the government?
You didn't do....and still couldn't pass a budget...and still can't/won't.

Bottom line...Slick?
You and yours made the decisions.
You had/have care, custody and control of this country.
You take no responsibility for what has occurred.
You have no plan.
No budget.

You say?
The Tea Party, which has been in "elected" existence for
EIGHT MONTHS and is the "MINORITY PARTY", is responsible
for all the problems.

That is Slicks solution...borrowing your way to prosperity...giving all your private sector jobs away...
expanding government to employ the unemployed private sector folks....Not the secret to Slick's success, it's the secret to yours.. ;)

I agree 100% Nic, but its seems that when the mostly republican House proposed a cut, cap and balance bill. that the mostly Democrat Senate didn't even give the time of day. they refused to even put it on the floor for discussion. they just thought instead of not spending more money than we take in, that they would just get a bigger credit card and then point the middle finger at those of us that have the common sense to actually STOP SPENDING to improve our financial status.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

as I said on another forum, Cut Cap and Balance was simply bad legislation. Really, really bad. It would have forced the hand of government, forced it to dismantle hugely popular public programs and left the nation completely unable to deal with the all-too-unpredictable future. More political grandstanding, which is what has made so much of the past year such a useless mess for the American people.

Horse feathers: These programs are not affordable and never were. I see your opinion
and speculation, Slick. I don't see any substance, like facts.
