Because, frankly, I have been raised my whole life to be one of those powers that be, and I never got the memo on dumbing down the nation. No, like most of the problems extant in the US today, this is mostly a screw up by the public as a whole. They simply are lazy, too unwilling to take responsibility for the raising of their children, too focused on shallow values and easy answers. Let that status quo go on long enough, and you end up with a stupid populace. It's that simple. No conspiracy necessary.

no hailstorm, Pud.......Obama is of the age that still got a strong education, although he was in a public school, then a private school for foreign students overseas, then back to the states and off to a few very fine Universities.
