Rick Santorum.

Post by Soapy »

Quick straw poll.

Is he the guy you want, or just a looney with no idea of history?

One example was him telling a BBC journalist, that the British Empire fell due to the National Health system. ( I'll find the link if you need it, and while you search you will see this guy guff about US soldiers during WW2 with no idea what he is talking about..)

The NHS was established in the UK in 1948. The British empire was on the wane long before that, and WW2 sealed it's fate. So how could a healthcare programme that happened 3 years later be the thing that caused the empire to fall?

The British Empire, might have lasted longer though, if it had set up a more civilised healthcare system earlier and wasn't run by politicians and tobacco barons for pure profit ( a bit like they way modern dictators do, and they always raid the palaces just before the rebels move in.)

Above and beyond his lack of global History, he seems to be offensive to WW2 vets by being as dumb as a sack of shit. He wears a Tank top to look "normal" and if you ever see him with supporter's kids at rallies, he also seems to like slapping babies on the head ( almost as if he he hates them or has no idea how they were made? )

Is he just a straw man so that some other dude can come along and rescue the Repubes? Or a nutter?

Or, is he the guy you want to run your country ?

In a way I favor him....Why?
He does not dodge or avoid answering questions...the rest of them do it constantly..
He is a (so far) pretty straight forward person..Imho

Romney? I don't trust him and he seems very likely to perpetuate the problems in this country...

Newt is by far the most intelligent...but, if his wife can't trust him? I don't either.

Ron Paul? Well, he's Rupaul....

Rick Perry?...Geesh! Tebow on Tivo...I like his ideas of a smaller government..that's about all I like...

Educate me Pud, apart from Rick Sanitorium :P Which of the other guys are Dems/Reps?

Also, would it matter to a Repube, if for instance a Dem said he would bring in stuff you wanted?

I know you guys treat politics like a ball game and have to declare who you will vote for etc before the polls, but do you ever find that you would change over due to policies rather than personalities etc?

Don't get me wrong, in the UK I have an almost equal disdain for just about any MP or PM in power or cabinet, especially if/when they try to kiss babies and misquote history. ( and they do it a lot but maybe no one cares? ) But in the USA the whole thing is so much larger, both the good and the bad, and it kind of makes a test bed for what might happen here 5-10 years down the line.

Sanitorium is too religious.
Overly religious politicians are a dangerous thing.
They can't seperate church and state.

If the shit hit the fan (Iran, North Korea, economic collapse, Canada invades North Dakota...) instead of taking decisive action he would run for a bible!

Santorum is a dangerous religious nut, also arrogant and entitled, making him a real prize. Pennsylvania voters figured it out once he got into office, and sent him packing by a whopping 18% loss margin. He won't win in NH, and likely has ZERO chance of the actual
national nomination.

Also, Soapy, all the folks Pud mentioned are packed into the GOP clown-car. Only one live candidate on the other side this time out.

Herman Cain is clearly insane...but at least he was interesting and fun to listen to!
It's a shame he pulled out so early.

The NH primary is cheap to enter, and one doesn't need any massive voter petitions. Hence, you get some really amusing candidates.
There's Buddy Roemer(look him up), and THIS guy takes the cake, I think. Love the name:

I voted for that guy when he ran for Cancellor of Quebec.
He lost out to a chick who could rub her tummy and pat her head at the same time!
