actually, he doesn't scare me a bit, and I don't know enough socialists to form a consensus on their opinion. But I'll differ on one thing you wrote: he isn't powerful, at least in terms of turning out the vote. Otherwise, McCain would have never been the nominee last time around, for one example. Also, I'll tell you are scared of him: Republicans running for national office, much of the time.
That is what bothers me about the current episode. As you say, Rush is a DB, so this type of outburst is hardly shocking to me. What is lame is the response of 3 of the 4 candidates for President. To his credit, Paul slammed him, fast. Newt and Santorum said nothing, which speaks volumes. Best of all, however, was Mr. Evasive, Mitt Romney, who came up with, "those wouldn't be the words I would have chosen." WTF? In other words, Mitt, you agree with the opiated blowhard, but would have lied about her more pleasantly? Nice, these people want to be leader of the US, but don't have the balls to stand up to Rush Limbaugh when he flagrantly lies, and then verbally abuses a regular citizen exercising her civic duties and free speech rights. That should serve us well.
