That just supports what I've said in the past.
It's the middle man running the costs up.
You don't need the government to insure you. All you need is a
"price gouging" law in place and enforced. Profits, controlled as
they are done with "property insurance". By that, I directly mean,
limited to 10% over head and 10% profit. Watch the medical costs
plummet.
However, if the government is allowed to "manage" your health care?
What prevents them from doing as "they" please?
The example of this is the Immigration Laws in place, but not in effect.

Re: You Yanks need universal health care
that makes no sense whatsoever, Pud. If all costs incurred by a hospital/healthcare provider to indigent patients aren't rolled into that 10%, the providers go broke. If they are, without government help, costs would skyrocket. Neither is a good option. Medicare from cradle to grave is the only way to keep costs down.

Respectfully, No, Slick.
Because?
"However, if the government is allowed to "manage" your health care?

The government has been very good at ignoring folks. Especially, the last
four years. We don't need the "hope hype" we need the "change". My/Our destiny
is our own. Not the governments. My/Our choice, not theirs. That is the concept
that formed this country. That is the concept that will renew/sustain it.
I'll never understand this "new" concept that allows/permits folks to shirk their
responsibility to themselves. I'll never conform to it. Not ever.

Re: You Yanks need universal health care
it is not 'shirking' anything, when insurers won't cover someone with a 'pre-existing' condition, or offer a host of other workarounds to avoid payment. That is the reality we all had to deal with until 2009. It isn't anymore, thank goodness, but we have a long way to go until we join the rest of the civilized world in terms of recognizing that basic level health care is a right of citizenship.
Oh, and back to the OP, we could always just remove all states in which scorpions are native from the Republic. That works for me, just fine!

How did Obama care help the lady with the bug bite?
The honest put off to me...Is when folks start throwing words out there...like
"basic level health care". The why of that is this, it lacks definition, legal definition.
Meaning, it ain't defined. Meaning, all Insurance Policies are defined. Yours isn't.
That's where the big problem is...kinda like your answer is similar to Pelosi's, "pass it
and we'll all find out later". Many folks are not the kind of people to "put their ass" on the line, let alone their money on something as ill defined as "basic level health care" and not knowing exactly what it means. What their "rights" are? Not to mention, their complete surrender of their lives to some "entity". All on the whim? Of helping the poor out.
More later...

Re: You Yanks need universal health care
no doubt, and it will be just as stupid as the 'more eariler'. You don't even get the simplest premise....this, once again, is NOT ABOUT POOR PEOPLE!!!!!! Poor people get Medicaid, or at least will until the GOP manages to end that program. Nothing about that program has changed much in 20 years. This whole thing is about lower middle class people who cannot afford health insurance, whose employers or status of employment doesn't provide insurance or who are self-employed but denied the ability to purchase insurance, even if they wish to and can afford it, due to 'pre-existing conditions'. Now, until 2013, those people still are not required to or able to have coverage, so no, that women in the OP is stuck with the bill. That is wrong. No one in a wealthy nation(and yes, the US is still an extraordinarily wealthy nation) ought to face financial ruin or the like over medical costs. No other civilized country allows that to happen, NONE. To make sorry-ass excuses for why it's ok that we can allow that to happen is pathetic of you. Just pathetic.Pudfark wrote:More later...

Yup, it's so pathetic...I insure myself.
It's so pathetic and unthinkable that others won't.
I would be among the first to say....
I only earned enough to take care of me and mine.
Didn't inherit anything from anyone and don't stand to inherit.
Except, as you propose...somebody else's problems and their debt.
To that, I say no thanks. You seem to be rolling in it, you can have mine.

The difference between won't and can't.
That's what you don't understand or comprehend.
Re: You Yanks need universal health care
The number of people who can't afford medical insurance does not justify a 'universal' system managed by government.
