um, Pud, that 'right' long ago expired. It would, and couldn't ever happen.

Are you saying Slick that we can't incorporate new States, or divide an existing one?? In a legal sense. "Rights" has nothing to do with it.

Can't do it without a supermajority in Senate for starters, and Presidential support. What Pud was citing was an agreement in place back when Texas became a state, which I am quite certain would not be upheld as still in valid force today.

Yup, we can. Why?
We were not annexed or conquered.
We joined the U.S. with a contract.
It's an interesting contract replete with terms and conditions,
that the U.S. Government agreed to...It's "binding".

Seems to "bind" Slick as well... ;)

as usual, Texas is out of step with the nation as a whole. Note, by the way, newest polls(some from GOP-friendly pollsters) after the 47% blunderfest: Ohio has Obama up 10% LV, Virginia Obama up 10% LV, Florida Obama up 6% LV. Adios, Mitt!!

That's what you unfailingly seem to not grasp. You're out of touch.
You've been told, proved and factually demonstrated to:
"It's to soon to tell"....Be glad, I didn't rejuvenate the "Remember in November" thread... ;) I'm not saying or betting anything in November. I'm relying on myself and other like minded folks. Your prerogative, to rely on Obama. Good Luck. The rest of us will make our own. Without you.

By the way.....you mentioned Texas being "out of step"? What you oughta know, and don't, in Texas we do the "two step"...We don't know how to "side step". However, we do know "how to step outside" and how to "step up". So, if'n ya can't "step" with us?
Consider running... :P
