Did Ruggplug join the police?

My first reaction was to think "That bastard should not be someone with authority".
Then again this is just one case, I wasn't there to witness it, I neither know nor
trust the people reporting this and for all I know he's a total fucking Saint and a Hero.

I accept the explanation he was afraid to break her arm or leg, I've played with
my nine year old neice and she's hard to stop ("subdue" I guess) without using
pretty serious force. (actually she broke her arm once playing with me, she fell
and although it wasn't my fault I feel some shame ...)
If he had tried to get her to the car using force and did harm her in the process
there might be as much, or even more, commotion in the media.

Then I started to wonder what actually hurts (damages) a kid more, a possible broken
limb or an enormous electrical shock.
I'd also like to know what the law(s)(/regulations/rules/whatchamacallits) is/are
regarding the use of tasers on kids (and I guess it would be similar
for geriatric and/or (physically/mentally?) handicapped people.

Does any of this forum's visitors have any knowledge on the last two points?
If not, possible trustworthy sources ?

in her own home has been suspended - not for using the weapon but for not having a
video camera attached when he used it.

I guess that answers my question regarding him being allowed to use it on a ten year old at all...


I should also mention I believe it's nuts to call the police if your kid won't take a shower.
Around here they'd likely just laugh at you if you'd call for that reason.
And although I can understand both sides my gut reaction is still: "bastard!"

I guess the poor guy thought "Hell, I have to do something." I don't know how it works in The States but I assume if he had left he'd be sued for something or other.
