Bush has been gone close to a year. This is happening on Obama's watch and under a congress that has been majority Democrat for almost 3 years. And if you don't think politics has anything to do with this think again son. Ask any soldier out there about ROE and they'll tell you that the politicians are the ones making it and it trickles down the chain of command.

Everything that happens after this point is the result of the current sitting president. I suppose you're gonna blame the huge debt that this country is in on Bush as well.....................

like I said, a real pantload. This entire matter is about how the military is handling it. And why? Because of Abu Gharib, which clearly did not happen on Obama's watch. That travesty, which should have resulted in life sentences and massive reliefs of commands, due to the danger it placed the troops in, has led to a gun-shy military(in this case the Navy). It has utterly NOTHING to do with US public opinion, and everything to do with oversensitivity to the perceptions in the Muslim world of US conduct.

oh, and I nearly peed myself over the debt comment. Ruggie is clueless as ever. At least the recent deficit spending might actually show longterm benefits. How soon, though, we all forget the part about how Obama came in, 10 long months ago, to a deficit-free, debt-free US government, in the midst of a rosy economy.

I agree. The cancer that Clinton left was compounded upon by Bush, and now Obama. Let's not forget that the housing and lending crisis that we're all suffering from is a direct result of the Clintons removing just about all restrictions on lending.
