Cover-up hospitals face chop ..and dud NHS bosses to be fired

Sweeping reforms are to be urged after 1,200 patients died needlessly in appalling conditions at one hospital.
In a separate call, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt also warned that failing NHS bosses should be sacked.

The £11million report will suggest managers attempted to play down/cover up evidence of rising death rates among vulnerable patients at Stafford Hospital.

Many were denied adequate food and drink and left in soiled bedsheets. Nurses and doctors were also put under pressure to hit targets to win prized foundation status.

Yup...that's "Great" Britain...they've had how many decades to sort this out?
This is the total end result of corrupt politicians and greedy government bureaucrats.
Ya just know...our next 40 years is gonna be different...than theirs...Ya huh

Apparently, immune from law suit or civil consequences. They get fired/terminated while you and yours are exterminated/cremated. Carry on...pip pip...Cheerio...and all that rot.

First of all, stop reading The Sun. It's a rag that is only good for wiping your ass on if you run out of TP

The barebones of the story are true though. At one hospital ( at least ) many people died when they shouldn't have. What that story might not cover is the fact that the NHS when it was over funded ( pre Thatcher times ) provided better care than it did post.

Several campaigners are pinning the fault on the Labour government under Blair, and then Brown ( and they are culpable to an extent ) but the real damage to the health service was done in the 80's when the Tories decided to run healthcare like a business rather than a public service. The people who actually do the jobs ( Doctors/Nurses etc ) have been increasingly managed by pencil pushers and box tickers to fit statistical ( not real world ) targets. The priority has been to manage beds and wards, not to actually treat people. The stats looked fucking brilliant from an economic POV, millions of pounds were "Saved". Tough shit if you happened to be ill though.

I know quite a few people who left the UK and went elsewhere so they could actually do their jobs and get paid for it, instead of being forced to follow a spreadsheet prediction of what their job was.

The idea of a National Health Service was a great leap forward, but has been turned into a performance driven environment full of people who have no other qualification other than "middle management and arse licking". That is why that particular hospital failed, due to a culture of management that had nothing to do with health in the slightest.

It might force the current Govt, in the UK to realise that healthcare is not a business but a vocation and then get back to being closer to what it was meant to be in the first place.

Well written Soapy, Thank You for taking the time to express your thoughts/experience. I agree with them.

When, I read that article, my first thoughts were about how
your system deteriorated to that level. My next thoughts were
what I believed to be the answer. Which is the multiple "insulated" layers
of bureaucracy where no individual is held accountable or responsible. What you
wrote tends to lend credence to that thought, in my opinion.

So, bottom line, (I was gonna get wordy, caught myself..), it seems to me from
my experiences in life, when a number of people are hired to be responsible for
one thing and in reality, only one person was necessary...it was done that way on purpose, to make it extraordinary difficult to hold any of them accountable for their actions or the initial responsibility that was their job or position. What compounds all of this? When the rest of us have no recourse other than applying pressure to the system and all it results in? Is job loss for the offenders. No criminal or civil action can be taken in regard to preventing further occurrences of the "lapses" that resulted in the first place. It's a real "Catch 22" situation. It exists here in the U.S. in similar forms, with the same results.

This again, in my opinion, is why "government" cannot be allowed to control/manage certain things....They don't hold themselves accountable and you can't either.

Why would I waste the time to blame Obama?
He totally personifies what I wrote about.
Actually, he's the "poster boy" for the problem.
Really, Buzz, who has been "able" to hold him accountable?

Answer: Nobody
Why?
Well, I call it the "Ostrich Syndrome" in the liberal community and....
"actions" don't count, "verbiage" does. Which is my polite way of saying?
There's a big difference in shoveling muleshit and talking muleshit.

Ya don't have to believe me...just talk to yer mule... in the "stall". 8-)

Ah...much like our current government....you're paying somebody else to deal with yer shit.... And then....you're paying a lot of others...to do nothing, about yer shit.

Which....all boils down to?
You don't give a shit...so, why would anybody else?
Well, again....the mule might be the only one?
Who gives a shit..... 8-)

Which...reminds me of a TV advert I saw last night....
Wherein...the question was asked?
"What do you want your toilet paper to do for you?"
Well, Buzz....What are your expectations?
:)
