while crushed in the absolutely massive throng at the Gala, a lot of folks(read:women) were watching CNN on the cellphones to see what Michele Obama was going to be wearing(she was at the Commander in Chief ball first). I noticed 5 or 6 guys in tuxes and military uniforms on stage with the President. Was one of those guys your friend? If so, cool!
I could report further, if anyone really gives a shit, but bottom line is that these things are massively overrated, if they're only going to have two. Thousands of people jammed into a massive set of rooms, can't really see squat, news media to stumble over, crappy food, slow drinks. The speech on Monday was the best part, despite nutsoid security to go through. Stevie Wonder was close to being worth being there for, and despite hating country music, by and large,
Brad Paisley(sp?) wasn't half bad.

Re: Barfly
CNN had a big chunk of space for their people, and no I didn't. Avoided press as best I could. As far as I've heard, no video of me....except on security footage, no doubt.

Re: Barfly
she does have really pretty eyes. The rest is fine, too, as best as I can tell. They did not, that I saw or heard, send her out onto the main floor. But, you have to realize, that place was vast, and there were like 30,000 people there, so it was sort of like a Grateful Dead show without the good acid.CNN did have folks loose down there, though..... Annoyance #521. Wouldn't do it again.....you all probably saw more at home far more inexpensively. The Delaware thing the night before was a letdown, too. First off, they shared the event with folks from New York and Maryland. The food was probably provided by the New Yorkers, with stuff like corned beef sandwiches and the like. Only Delaware food that I saw was saltwater taffy from Dolles in Rehoboth. Dignitary types stayed away until final hour, for the most part. Best food I had the whole time there was a giant hoagie(sub) that I split with the wife on Monday.
Re: Barfly
Unfortunately no - not sure who those guys were; all very decorated enlisted ranks from all services. From TV the event appeared as you described, the mass of smart-phone video action on the bottom of the screen/front of stage made the whole affair seem a bit cheesy. Admittedly, I didn't go outta of my way to watch any of it, but highlights were scattered across all evening news programs.callmeslick wrote:while crushed in the absolutely massive throng at the Gala, a lot of folks(read:women) were watching CNN on the cellphones to see what Michele Obama was going to be wearing(she was at the Commander in Chief ball first).
