hell, that is going to be a massive lawsuit for Torrance, and yes, there should have been charges. 'High Alert' doesn't mean shoot newspaper delivery vehicles with no cause.

We the people are under the rule of a Communist totalitarian regime.
Cops can do no wrong. Obama is supreme dictator.

The recent bullshit going down about the ex cop and the insane gun laws in NY and California
are simply examples of the police state tightening it's grip.

I fear this is 1861 repeating.

fucking idiot, above.
Zero appreciation on what drove the Civil War(economics), nor the complete cohesion of the Southern(white) population behind the effort. Does anyone really think there is that sort of regional cohesion, or even ONE STATE so dedicated to be against the government? Hell, Dem strategists are trying to put Texas in the Dem column by 2016.....

Civil war was about "States Rights".
If, there's a next Civil War...it'll be about "States Rights".

sorry, but no, it wasn't. It was about a threat to the personal assets of Southern Gentlemen, using 'states rights' as an excuse.
If, there's a next Civil War...it'll be about "States Rights".
getting back to my point above....find me a State with the critical mass of citizens to force that issue to that point.

 That, was apparently the same thought in 1860....then, they found out, it was a bunch of states... I'm not sayin' there will be massed armies on a battle field... I'm sayin' pay attention to the states that are beginning to defy the Fed's... It's a barometer to predict, just like the weather, except,
in this case it's the "whether".

you have to remember, Pud, the power was in the hands of a very few rich landowners, they called the shots. The thought of having slaves freed by government decree was akin to having the govt order you to give away 80% of your cash assets, for nothing in return. Slaves were pricey and in many cases, the largest single asset segment of most Southern planter's portfolios. Money was at stake, and the 'states' rights' thing was just a trumped up excuse. They were able to convince the common people to go along, because those people depended on the Plantations to fuel the local economies. Like I say, you will NEVER get a critical mass of the population of any state to consider secession or civil war at present. Too much of the citizenry is tied, economically to the nation and the rest of the world.

Some things you pointed out are "unarguably" true.
Others...well, not necessarily so.
