RD are you seriously trying to equate that quote with Jefferson saying we should revisit the 2nd amendment every 20 years???
Because if you are you're pulling it out of your ass
Thomas Jefferson.

It was a Canadian "A", it's only worth about a C- in the real world!Reservoir_Dog wrote:Don't have to.Pudfark wrote:Try putting "Thomas Jefferson" in the Fox search bar....
Did a paper on him back in college.
Got an A.
Now we have demonstrable evidence that if you try to lead from behind, eventually the guys up front will stop looking back for instructions.

Re: Thomas Jefferson.
Jefferson did think that 'revolution'(a term he and his peers used to describe wholesale change, not necessarily violence) was key to a nation and it's governance every generation. He realized that times change and so do conditions. More germane to ponder is TJ's view of a bll of rights:
""By a declaration of rights, I mean one which shall stipulate
freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of commerce
against monopolies, trial by juries in all cases, no suspensions
of the habeas corpus, no standing armies. These are fetters
against doing evil which no honest government should decline."
the highlighted part explains the true Meaning of the 2nd amendment, and the need for it at those times. Since we have had a standing Army since around 1825, that, I'm quite sure, is something that Jefferson might see fit to revisit. I suspect he would wish to dissolve the army rather than disarm the people, old rabble rouser that he was, but might be wrong. My point, however, is that the horse has left the barn there. We are going to have a national military infrastructure, hence no need for the 2nd, actually.

That folks, from Slick, is the "liberal interpretation" to do the illegal, wrong thing.
See my new thread on the "Missing Link" and understand why Slick's interpretation is so skewed and wrong.

So did...the governments sworn oath to protect Americans.Buzz wrote:Freedom of religion sure went to hell.
Which is the "why" of the second amendment.
When religion goes "to hell", sworn oaths mean nothing.
Proof of that resides in D.C. and the last four years.
Re: Thomas Jefferson.
Why just the last 4 years?
