Pud, far more important(well, potentially.....) is this question:
What are your ideas to address the costs of healthcare, the uninsured and overall health and welfare of the nation(because NOT maximizing health of your fellow citizens impacts you, as an individual, in many ways, none of them really good)? I mean, the same old cut and paste might interest you, but not me.
Feel free to elaborate and leave more than one option open. Just say something of substance.

well, Nic, I was hoping for individual threads, but a big attaboy for stepping up! Now, how do you think your plan is going to go forward, when only certain states have gold reserves? Wouldn't we see a run on gold that would drive up prices artificially? Second, wouldn't this lead to immediate financial chaos?

what good would it do for anyone unless it were adopted internationally, universally? Are you suggesting that the US ought to try this marvelous experiment alone? That would seem an odd suggestion for someone who isn't even an American citizen.......

So did you hijack this thread beccause you can't refute anything in the video? that's what it looks like. Perhaps you should take your own advice and start your own thread if you want to change the subject.

sorry, Barfly, but merely posting a video of someone elses speech provides nothing new. I actually just wanted to point that out, in the part you quoted. Beyond that, Nic chose to post some original thought, and I responded.

oh, and Barfly, I heard Roger's assertions a month ago or so, and he's full of it. He has no more data to conclude that you will see more cancer deaths of ANY type than he does to conclude the other way. Best practice should lead to fewer, but that is an equal suppositon on my part. To sum up, more shallow thinking hot air with no substance. No wonder Pud cited it. Funny that you, and he, seem to think Roger's goofy claims need to be refuted to be proven bogus. He has NO DATA, which, in itself, makes a mockery of his claims. He is projecting upon a scenario that hasn't even taken place. It's pure speculation, and needs nothing to refute it whatsoever.

The scenario repeats itself in western countries with socialized medicine. Partly because 'best practices' application by a third party, the government, does not result in overall better care because it does not cater to the uniqueness of the individual.

If you can't recognize the value of free market solutions to a health care product, there is no point in you participating in this thread. You could just say "I don't believe the free market works best", etc, then show us examples of a government solution to a market problem that works better.
