I'm sorta curious who is the "navigator" for Slick and the ObamaCare agenda?


Over 100 organizations—including Planned Parenthood affiliates, community groups, health care providers, and business groups—will receive $67 million in grants to serve as “navigators” who will help Americans sign up for health insurance in Obamacare’s new state exchanges.


Among the “navigator” recipients of the awards are Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Mobile ($20,750), University of Arkansas ($774,745), Arizona Board of Regents, University of Arizona ($190,268), Pinellas County (FL) Board of County Commissioners ($600,000), National Hispanic Council on Aging ($646,825), University of Georgia ($1,657,378), Mercy Hospital and Medical Center (IL) ($452,590), Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services ($276,593), University of Mississippi Medical Center ($831,986), Mental Health America (in multiple locations), and Migrant Health Promotion, Inc. ($589,750).

CMS.gov has a complete list of “navigator” recipients who will be helping Americans sign up for the Obamacare exchanges.

every large scale program spends funds for roll-out. We spent far more than 60 million a few years back rolling out Medicare Drug benefits. What is the issue?

I found some of the recipients unusually interesting....such as Universities, Planned Parenthood,Migrant Health Promotion...Mental Health America....and a few others?

Pud, think about the prime target audience whom you wish to inform about the new insurance processes and options:
Students(University)
Younger poor women(Planned Parenthood)
Transient workforce(Migrant labor groups)
the bottom line, and I heard this discussed on the way into the office this morning is that funding for this was cut far shorter than is usually the case by Congress(serving who, exactly??). Therefore, what money available is being spent targetting those likely to be without insurance presently, such as younger people, the working poor and migrant/rural laborers. Most folks who have insurance under their employer aren't going to have to deal with the exchange system. Also, I heard that resources to States running the exchanges have been higher, due to several factors. This is going to be one fascinating political football next year, especially if the cooperative states(ex Delaware) fare FAR better than the uncooperative states(ex Texas). If you can keep a level head and trade notes here about real costs for sub-medicare aged folks, we all might learn something by the contrast to your plans and mine......

I pretty much agree with the latter part of your statement. It will be interesting.

Not trying to be a "smart ass"...but, Walmart would be a better place than some of those others. Here's why? Walmart has the biggest work force and the vast majority of it is part time.

I do find it interesting that the "costs" are still an unknown and supposedly ain't been calculated/tabulated. Is this disturbing to you? It is to me. That holds true for coverage's and deducts as well. I know...sixty days or so, though every sense I have? Sez it's gonna be ugly.

Pud, what certainty do you have NOW with coverage and deductables and especially costs? I don't know your experience, but my costs have gone up annually, and my basic policy was getting ever more 'loopholes' and deductables. As I've said a number of times here, this bill is FAR FAR from perfect. We ought, as a nation, be able to accept the concept of cradle-to-grave Medicare and join the rest of the planet(and maybe move up from the current 31st ranking in health care outcomes). But, what it does attempt to do are two things: stabilize prices, coverage and catastrophic costs to patients while taking the cost driver of improper emergency/urgent care out of the mix. We'll see how well it works.

Oh, and actually, the WalMart idea is a good one........I'll be surprised if they don't involve themselves in the effort to inform in some fashion, as they were one of the driving forces behind passing the bill in the first place.
