I know plenty of degreed people who are functionally stupid. That may not be the case with you but some of the other stuff you comment on that mimics DNC policy to a T makes me think that you spent most of your time being indoctrinated in the liberal university mindset. Don't forget though, that just because someone didn't take the same college courses you did that they are ignorant of what they speak of. That in itself is an ignorant mindset. Additionally, with a degree from '77 you're about 30 years late when you try to discuss anything from which you degreed in. 30 years might as well be 100 with the changes in science and technology from the past decade.
Please spare me the "I'm so intelligent cuz I can haz degree" rhetoric. You get some credit for knowledge in the field that you work in every day, because it's something you're constantly active in. But to come here with "I had a degree 30+ years ago" bullshit is typical of what I see from a retard who is trying to prove how self-important he is. Good for you, you have a degree. It's hard work and it takes a lot of time. And everything that anyone has learned how to do in 1977 is done differently now. There is new and better knowledge of how to do it regardless of what type of job anyone has. And I would hazard a guess that you're prolly better at your job today than you were at it even 5 years ago.
But the best thing is that while you're shilling for the DNC, Al Gore's scientist buddies have been caught fudging the facts, or at the very least ignoring data that would cause someone who is open minded to read the data differently. If the facts spoke for themselves then there would be no reason to withold any information. But that's not the case and it's all about the Benjamins. I'd guess that true scientific research being done by individuals unaffected by their financial donors is somewhere in the percentile of single digits. Maybe I just don't trust people. But I'm not going to buy into anything any of these scientists says when you can see whose giving them the money for the research and where they stand on the political field. I should have gone to work profiling for the Feds, I can read people in the first 5 minutes of meeting them. Hell, when I was 5 years old and one of those Jesus freak religious guys who was on TV asking for money I said something to my grandmother about them being dishonest and using God as a way to get a paycheck. It's not hard to see where loyalties lie with many of these people and I can count on one hand the number of people that I've misread in my life.
You can keep your 30 y/o college degree. The ability to tell when someone is trying to bullshit you is an education that you just can't pay for at any cost. One last thing, you ever pull that "I have college degree" condescending BS on anyone to their face? If so, anyone ever punch you in the mouth for it? Just curious.

that's true, if you were to ASSUME that I don't keep up with the literature.ruggbutt wrote:I know plenty of degreed people who are functionally stupid. not trying to prove superior.....it was you who said you got an equivalent education in high school, and that just isn't so. A good University education should teach someone how to think critically, and approach problem solving. Sometimes, these days, they don't focus on that as much as they should, but that's another matter. Please spare me the "I'm so intelligent cuz I can haz degree" rhetoric. A graduate degree isn't a static thing either. You learn the state of the art, but also how to deal with your specialized field at another level of thinking. Notice: it's all about thinking, and that NEVER goes obsolete on you.
Nope. Then again, I can't recall someone making a comment as dumb as yours. You can keep your 30 y/o college degree. By the way, Ruggie.....I note that you didn't even TRY to back up those ridiculous assertions about how cancer research is being thwarted with any facts. Where are you getting your information?? Or, are you just making it up. Further, I really wasn't trying to lord anything over you, which is why I said,"don't even go there" to you. I wouldn't attempt to make intelligent assertions on construction/design techniques, I would trust you or someone in your line of work. Likewise, you would be well served not to comment on the state of biological research.
Oh, and I agree on that streetwise thing, and have always suspected you were good in that regard. Given that, I wanted to ask you to do the following little test(pertinent to another thread). Turn off the TV sound, and watch Rudy Giuliani speak on TV. Watch his face, especially the eyes. Now, tell me if you'd trust him as far as he could be thrown......

I made that statement cuz I really didn't know about alleged corruption. Then again I hear corruption stories all the time about east coast state politicians. I figured if there was something there then it would have been a larger issue on a national scale.callmeslick wrote: Now, tell me if you'd trust him as far as he could be thrown......

still, if you have, like, 10 minutes to kill, try my experiment. I'm telling you, if you've ever had to depend on quick, gut judgements of character to keep your ass safe, you KNOW this is not a trustworthy person.
