Glad yer enjoying the book.callmeslick wrote:yeah, that part was a load of stupid, for anyone who ever paid attention to how the pre-Civil Rights Act South worked. At any rate, it will be interesting to see how the show goes forward. There has been a tremendous drop-off in viewership over the past two weeks, likely just a Holiday effect, but likely some folks tuning out purposely on both sides of the issue. In related news, I am 3/4 through Phil's book, which my wife got me for Christmas. I don't agree with the stupid stuff he said in the interview about blacks, and DEFINITELY don't agree with goofy literal interps of the Bible, but I've always loved his views on the dangers of the modern world(too much TV, video games, too little outdoor activities), and his love of the woods and rivers. Interestingly, the book isn't real preachy, doesn't make the goofy points he came up with in that interview, and is a pretty good read(he had a ghostwriter, of course). Fascinating how he got the business off the ground. A credit to sheer perserverance.
