The Dream

Post by Pudfark »

Happy MLK Day....a celebration about somebody who gave his life to get rid of the excuse for racism and for equal rights. He made America a better place for all.

vs

Happy Presidents/Precedents Day...
On Sunday, The New Yorker released an interview with President Barack Obama in which the president stated that his approval ratings had been suppressed due to racism. “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama stated. “Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president.”

Who'd a thought...the difference between a "King" and a "President"...could be so different?
Especially, when the President is "white", not "African American" and never raised or educated in that manner. The "King" personified the equality of being "black" and mutual respect that all men have earned, regardless of race. Our "President" hides behind the accomplishments of "King" and twists his proud legacy and difficult past....into a "race baiting" excuse to hide his own lack of character and conduct, these last 5 years.

It strikes me as peculiar, in a wordy way, that we had a "King" who would have made a better "President" versus a "President", who would be a King, if he could get away with it.

That dishonors Dr. Martin Luther King on a day when we should all be celebrating and lauding his accomplishments.

the New Yorker story was dissected pretty well elsewhere on the net, and suffice it to say that Obama's words were NOT blaming racism for any recent lack of popularity. The rest of Puds post was pretty dull and not really needing debate.

That's amusing Slick...you accuse damn near everybody of being a racist and then ya say "post was pretty dull and not really needing debate." That's laughable and hypocritical. About as amusing as Obama hiding behind it, using it for an excuse to fail and hoping for subsequent forgiveness.

You are the racist.

Who Knew? Latino Majority Texas City Puts On One Of The Country's Largest MLK Day Celebrations

One of the largest celebrations in this nation for Martin Luther King Day takes place in a city that has a small African American community, and a Latino majority.

San Antonio, Texas, where Latinos make up 63 percent of the city’s 1.4 million residents, and blacks 7 percent and whites 26.6 percent, has been celebrating the late civil rights leader’s birthday since 1987 and attracting one of the biggest crowds anywhere in the United States.

The annual march attracts some 100,000 people, according to city figures. Last year the crowd was 150,000, say organizers. Large crowds also attend the various other activities around the city that focus on King’s life and legacy.

no surprise that Latinos in Texas embrace Dr. Kings legacy. Because, for them, much of that dream is yet to be realized. At the same time, they know it will come to pass, so why not celebrate the person who showed them the way?

You're showing your "true colors"...so, no mention of the "whitey's" showing up? Really?
I'll take yer quote above as another slight against white, it's quite obvious that you don't believe that MLK "showed them the way, too.

I'll stick by my earlier "racist" observation of your person, until, ya stop being one.

I'm certain that there were white folks there. Right-thinking white people attend MLK events, and volunteer heavily in the Day of Service. So what? I commented on your piece about the 'predominantly latino' town, with 'few african americans'. That was from your link. You keep looking for racists, just like a few loons take the REPORTERS words from the New Yorker piece, and infer from Obama going 'perhaps' that Obama is blaming, well, anything or anyone. He isn't. You further have continually implied that his only support comes largely from people of color....it doesn't. Especially his financial support for prior campaigns. So go on, rile yourself up over some twisted little view of who is and who isn't racist. No one really gives a fuck, really they don't.

Pud has hit the mark, and squarely on target.
You are a racist of the worst kind.
You hide behind a veil of "Liberalism" while
peddeling hatered and division.

And it has become very obvious.

SARAH PALIN TO OBAMA: IN HONOR OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, STOP PLAYING RACE CARD
"Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card," Palin said in a Monday Facebook post.

Palin also quoted King's immortal words from his "I Have a Dream" speech: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

A lot of BS from you " You keep looking for racists, just like a few loons take the REPORTERS words from the New Yorker piece, and infer from Obama going 'perhaps' that Obama is blaming, well, anything or anyone".

Ain't nobody inferring nothing. You're flat being told that Obama is "race baiting" and using his skin color for a "pass" on accountability, responsibility and piss poor dishonorable character. All while you stand there with yer thumb up yer butt...squirming and trying to throw out some excuses....and then piss poorly trying to lay it off on a nuance. Have you no shame, morals, conscious...social fiber?

Demonstrably not.
