saw an economic analysis the other day that stated the following:
If we hadn't had ten years of the Bush tax cuts, two wars and a Prescription drug plan for Medicare unpaid for, the nation would have completely paid down any debt incurred for recovery from the recession, and would be approaching zero national debt.

no, I'm stating clearly that no such thing has been done. The Dems have put very little new debt onto the nation. The vast bulk of our current debt is due to past laws and two wars not being budgeted(and thus taxed) for.

the rest of what you wrote was complete gibberish. The bottom line is that blaming Obama for the debt is like blaming Katrina for flooding caused by 40 years of bad sea-wall and levee construction. Just because he inherited the mess, and the GOP members of Congress refused to undo the revenue shortfall, doesn't make this his fault whatsover. The business about global wars and somehow tying it in with the proven fact which is climate change merely makes me think you started Valentine's Day off with an early Happy Hour.

Observation--this whole fracture of the GOP is the damndest political theater I've ever watched. I was too young to grasp it, but was told how the civil rights thing split the Dems for a while. I am old enough to remember the Vietnam war doing similar. In both cases, the adults in the room ultimately got things under control and kept the party together nationwide. Right now, it looks like the adults in the GOP room(examples-Boehner, McConnell) have utterly NO control over the wing of the party that dominates their candidate-selection process. Yet, those adults see full well that the candidates that emerge generally get crushed, except for maybe 1/5 of the districts, nationwide. That, coupled with changing demographics, could spell doom for the Republican party, and it's clear that most of the nation despises what the Tea Party stands for, so they could never morph into a national force, either. Thus, you might be left with nearly a generation of Democrat dominance, which even I would argue is a bad thing, just due to lack of check and balance controls.

Prediction--I'll put this up here, and in 8 years, if ACWOS is still here, and both of us are(God willing) alive and able to locate it in the archives, we'll look back and assess it: I predict that within 3, or at most 4 election cycles(8 years), TEXAS will be a Democrat state.

Your first paragraph, I will concede is well written, refreshing...actually. You made several points that I am in general agreement with. There are also several, I don't. However, in the overall....you stated your position well. Thank you for that. It was and enjoyable read. Friday nights are Call of Duty game nights here....and I just finished a three hour session with that. BTW, my wife plays as well. The folks we play with are "Yankee's" on the east coast....Grandparents and their grandkids. Mighty fine folks.

I have stated previously...and will do so again now...which is one thing...based upon what you wrote above...No single party has the best idea's. Nobody in D.C. is willing to negotiate/compromise. We can lambaste each other with the reasons why? That's what they've been doing...both parties and everyone has suffered from it. The only viable future of this country is with at least a two party system....that honorably finds a way to compromise. That, I think/believe, we agree upon.

More Saturday from me....I'm a dab knackered from getting my ass handed to me by two nine year olds....for the last three hours in Call of Duty....those kids are damn good and a delight to talk to. Their parents and grandparents are the top of the line.
