Re: they never knew what hit them....
I always thought such stuff as the above was sort of an urban legend. Then, about 20 years back, a co-worker and her husband moved into a townhouse, with the owners of a Chinese restaurant(since closed down) next door. One day, they looked into the small yard behind the neighbor's house and there were around 12 cat skins drying on a table. In the next month, the neighbor and a cousin were arrested by the local cops for attempting to kidnap cats from local neighborhoods. They had 3 in a sack in the car, when pulled over. I still eat at Chinese restaurants, but tend to get shrimp dishes. Hard to make something else look like a shrimp.

True story...
I knew some really nice hardworking Asian folks, Korean. They owned a small "Chinese" restaurant in the very lower middle income part of town. I ate their often and knew them well. One morning I got dispatched to their location...so, I hurried on over there and the wife of the owner..........she worked as the cashier and waitress...was waiting for me.
As I drove up...she recognized me... I could tell she was plenty pissed off... As only Asians can do...her speech was stilted and somewhat guttural.... "Glad you here...This no funny...Me pissed off...just look at that"..and she pointed towards the front door of the business... Laying there was a "fresh" dead dog....about a fifty pounder...with note tied around it's neck.
The note contained one word....................................................................."LUNCH".
It was all I could do.......not to laugh. True, it ain't funny to them or others....

I didn't go back to eat there for two weeks....
