Funny, cuz I heard the border patrol agents themselves say that they've been shot at by guys carrying bundles of weed. It was right on TV for god and everybody (who has cable) to see. Pull your head out of the sand. Weed is huge business and when it comes to the benjamins people will kill for those.
I'm not saying that folks in that business won't shoot at folks, especially law enforcement. It's just that the huge money that comes with meth, dope and coke fuel those crazy wars between gangs, that lead to wholesale death and destruction(a la Juarez and others).

Maybe what you oughtta do Slick is watch the series before you shoot off your mouth. Being here where all the shit happens I see and hear about it every day. The series does a great job of showing the facts and discussing what's really going on here and how it impacts this country, it's economy and it's people. There's absolutely nothing you (nor Janet Napolitano) can say that can change the fact that our border patrol agents are put in physical harm every day for protecting our sovereign nation. You were one of the first to say that Bush invading Iraq was illegal but you (conveniently) turn a blind eye to the invasion here. And a lot of what's going on is done by Mexican Military soldiers who are also members of the drug cartels.
don't get me wrong, Ruggie. We are being invaded from the south. Doesn't help that so many of our resources are focused in far-flung nations, but at this point, that's immaterial. As for border agents in harm's way, I have no disagreement. You(and your fellow Texans, New Mexicans, Californians) are on the front line of a war that is fueled by American money, American guns and(as you state) perpetuated by Mexican corruption. I don't envy you. Now, just explain to me this part: how, when you are all about LOWERING taxation, do you suppose we will find the resources to do the job down there properly?

Stop spending money elsewhere. Stop with Haiti. I've seen the vids on TV, it looks the same as before the quake. Stop giving money to other nations. Shut down unnecessary government agencies. Stop pork barrel spending. There's tons of ways to do it and we should prioritize. Most people with common sense would think that what's going down on the border should be a priority issue. Hell, even by your post you agree it's a big problem.

AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
THAT in a nutshell is slick in all his left wing liberal socialist glory.
I, we, others have explained this over. and over. and over....
seriously maddening slick- and you can exclaim its a troll, that is so very you over the last 10 years.
awesome lack of comprehension on economy/government.........again.......
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: obama.
Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.
bullshit, Dawg. Hell, you've shown a massive cluelessness about economics, now let's go into a little politics lesson for ya........When put to the public, there is a MASSIVE level of support for Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security to continue unabated. Further, our Defense spending is massive, with the wars adding to it, but it already was pretty damned big. This year, our budget is about $5 trillion. Of that, the above 4 items, coupled with paying back bond debt as due, comes to $4.2 trillion of that total. Our projected tax revenues are around $4 trillion. Yet, no politician, from either party, is EVER going to point out that we desperately need to either eliminate some of the key programs above, or pare them back heavily, or raise taxes by the roughly 20% needed to break even.
Now, y'all can chatter about lowering taxes, not spending (200 million, tops) in Haiti, or a host of other goofy stuff, but the bottom line remains: we, as a nation, either have to accept vastly lower levels of defense spending and/or social services, or raise taxes. And, if we don't start that process of raising revenue damned soon(admittedly, the back side of a recession is a shit time to do so), our children are looking at DOUBLE the current tax rate in 20 years. Find the math, it's out there if you google it. ANY POLITICIAN who avoids this reality is actually doing the nation a gross disservice.

Slick, what is so hard or expensive about securing our borders? Your argument is as rational as complaining about folks walking in your back door and taking your stuff, ya know the injustice of it all....and then being told to buy a lock for the door and then justifying your lame excuse, that the the purchase of a lock, for the back door, will "cut into" your ice cream budget.....boo hoo.
WTF is it about the "liberal" types, who refuse to take personal responsibility in their own lives and thier government????
Ya know, Iran and N.Korea don't have a problem with illegal entry....I guess they ain't as Slick as we are??
Old Pudfark sez: " Support the border states....Lock the Door "

not so much money the issue, but manpower. We just don't have Reservists and NG available to cover the task. Now, beefing up Border Agents and training them would take some money, but more of a time issue getting up to speed.

feel free to move to either of the latter. You choose, I buy you some new luggage.

You ignore the fact that the DNC has been a biggest obstacle to actually prosecuting illegals. Cops aren't allowed to ask if illegals are illegal. I'll say it once more, odds are 99.9% the dude or dudette are illegal if they speakie no Englie. It's common sense. The same kind of common sense that tells me that Wesley Snipes' skin color makes him a black dude.

and how, pray tell, does the committee overseeing electoral strategy of one party(which has had largely limited power over the past 30 years, do this?? Do you even know what the DNC is, who it's members are at present, or what they actually do?
I didn't think so.....
