Well, fats, it really was 'one birds last flight'....bird strikes ain't funny. When I was flying all over W.Texas in my old C170, buzzards were a serious in flight risk. Best advice I ever got was to not make/take evasive action to avoid them...my speed was only 100kts and they had time to move. A 3/16" canopy ain't no protection. That guy was lucky, well trained and skilled.

Back in 1977 we picked a gannet out of a C-130 (nose) radome.
You can hit a C-130 in the nose with a base ball bat with all
yer strength and not make a mark. The bird (most of it) went
right through.
