George Carlin

"Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. F*ck Hope."

George Carlin
Now we have demonstrable evidence that if you try to lead from behind, eventually the guys up front will stop looking back for instructions.
Government-coerced expression is a feature of dictatorships that has no place in a free country

whether he actually said that is immaterial. The words fit. Or, as Louis Black famously did say, on an HBO special: "The Democrats are the party of no ideas and the Republicans are the party of bad ideas but the most dangerous thing of all is when these pricks work together".

The government, politicians and liberal folk are all now terrified of the public and the forthcoming vote. Long overdue. :D

I think you'd find, if you ever ventured out, that 'liberal folk' have been talking about the unresponsive nature of government beholden to corporate profits for decades. Maybe, in a few more cycles, the angry folks looking at Trump will realize that a billionaire loudmouth wasn't a good choice for the fix.

who would that be? If you're talking about the older gentleman who has been serving his constituents for 4 decades, been rock consistent and RIGHT on most major economic and international issues, yes, he is.
