I can see the beef with too much conformity, especially to a social cuture which is rotted and emphasizes stupidity. Still, self-reliance is not a really big part of a functional education, either. Most of what we do, or accomplish is collaborative, and if you don't work on those skills, you have a poor base to build the future upon.Pudfark wrote:"American, and all Western education today, puts too much emphasis on social conformity rather than self-reliance.
oh, so they don't mean strict conformative behavior, like in the 1950s, but just have a beef with politeness.By social conformity I mean progressives' code of political correctness.
um, here's a hint. We don't refer to our forbearers as 'Pioneers'. They didn't galivant around in covered wagons and such. They crossed oceans in crappy boats, often at ages under 20. Most of what they got they didn't 'fight' for, they CREATED it, in a wholly new vision, somewhat based on the old country but with new values. About all that was fought over was 1) moving those pesky natives, 2) fending off Canadians(see #3) and 3)the fact that the British were ripping off the colonials. Had there been fair trade, you likely wouldn't have ever seen a revolution.Americans whose DNA goes back to the Revolution have become complacent. Or simply anxious to maintain their social/ financial position by exploiting their family history but with no moral connection whatsoever to the ideals their forbears fought for. Not everyone of course, but many of those pioneers' children are like exactly like that."
