Big surf fishing tourney that weekend, so I'm there from Thursday until Monday. Lots of fresh seafood around. Very fresh, world famous, Chincoteague Salt Oysters. Just my two cents.
We wouldn't want to impose on you and yours during your fishing tourney.

Please define "earlier in the fall".

Mid-Sept to Early October. Good time of year down there, actually. Generally, the water is still warm enough to wade into. Most local seafood is still plentiful. I usually try to get down that way during those weeks. Prior to grandparent duties, the wife and I went down to the shore for a week every Sept or Oct. Weather is in the 70-80F range for a high, but goes down to the upper 50s or low 60s at night. Very pleasant.

you wouldn't impose, I have a feeling. Generally, my wife avoids that weekend(tends to be a bit, um, raw outside), I've taken grandson once, but likely not again for a few years, as he interferes with the adult activities. It isn't like I'm tied up by the ocean all day long from Thurs-Sun....I take my shots, it's a free, bragging rights thing, and largely just a big social event. Bars are full of lying fishermen and women, along with some colorful Chincoteague locals. The oysters are in PRIME season, and moreover, the sponsoring tackle shop's owner has some relative that has come by on Saturday night(the big party night) with bushels of oysters for all present(you'd be more than welcome.......it's a pretty scruffy, but authentic bunch there). Good times. At best, one other person might be coming down for the tourney, but he's always iffy. Mull it over, it's your call. Hell, we might just get y'all fucked up and all watch the game on TV at some sports bar on Sunday! Like I say, good times! :D

Okay, Slick ... the trip is a GO!
We're looking at the Oct 16th game against the Eagles.
Chipz wants to fly, and the lady gets what she wants, so we're gonna fly.

Now there's two ways we can do this ....

We can fly down on the Thursday, spend a couple days in the D.C. area {I'd like to see the Air and Space museum at the Smithsonian as well as the National Zoo and Chipz has an old friend she'd like to see who is stationed at Annapolis.}, go to the game on Sunday, then skip over into Delaware on Monday to say Hi to a fellow CWoSian.

or

We can fly down on the Thursday, skip over into Delaware on Friday to say Hi to a fellow CWoSian, go to the game on Sunday, then do the Zoo and the Smithsonian on Monday and Tuesday.

or

You can say that weekend sucks for you and you're not going to be around. In which case, we simply won't go to Delaware.

What works for you?

what might work for me is to talk you into going from Annapolis across the bay and SOUTH to Virginia, where I can meet you and let you see the nearest thing to Mayberry, RFD, and eat serious seafood. Far more fun than Delaware, and about the same distance for you. I could even consider picking you up and bringing you over and back myself.

Sorry Slick, I had your two places mixed up. I thought your Mayberry RFD place was in Delaware. My mistake.
We won't need a ride as we are going to rent a car when we land in D.C. But thanks for the offer.
Which travel plan works better for you?

arrive on Thursday, come over to VA shore that day or early Friday. Two days of seafood and sightseeing in my old Virginny home(still a bit of a work in progress, but there are beds and all). There is a new seafood store in town that had Crabs as cheap as 60 bucks per bushel, Bay scallops for 11 per pound, decent prices for shrimp and other stuff, too. Prepare to consume seafood and cheap, cold beer.

I have to admit....I'm starting to get a little excited about this whole thing!!
And Fats, why don't you and the soon to be Mrs. tag along as well and get married at Slicks while we're there!
I'm sure he'd let you use the same minister he sent us....
