you know, I have an EVEN better song, one familiar to older New Englanders:
Jaime Brockett used to tour New England, and had exactly one well-known song: The Ballad of the USS Titanic. In the song, which dealt with the karma inflicted on the ship due to not letting the black boxer Jack Johnson on board. The refrain went, "They wouldn't let Jack Johnson on board,
Said this ship don't haul no coal, Fare thee well, Titanic, fare thee well"
At one point, Jack declares, back in New York, "I'm going to sit on this dock and watch you go on down"
and that is what I'm going to do, essentially, until November 9. I'm going to just sit here and watch the Good Ship Orange Face go right on down.
