Sad to say, that generation seems to feel they are specially entitled as citizens. Prior generations served their nation, went home and expected to be common citizens. As for that, no further back than my late father, who sort of got drafted to help the Navy take control of the Pacific. Look up development of fire retardants and the US Naval laboratory.
