Re: come on, Darkhorse, bring what you have....
Back in the day when all the gas stations were switching over to self serve pumps I remember my Dad saying, "Those damn things are going to put a million people out of their jobs".
I remember thinking that my Dad was making a mountain out of a mole hill. Those people can just get jobs doing something else. Right? It's not like pumping gas requires a college degree. Right?
Fast forward three decades and automation is replacing the human worker at a record clip. Only now there are no other jobs for those people to go get. Because a machine took those jobs as well.
Turns out my Dad was right.

I had asked you, a few days back to opine. Either Mama's been needing to go to town daily or you chose not to. So, we may as well make THIS thread the point for everyone's say so. Rock on, same offer as DH. Show me where I'm wrong, or you think I'm wrong. Provide data or links if you have them.Pudfark wrote:You obviously did not read what you wrote Slick. Revolution/Skynet and we're all fecked...especially them poor colored folk. Bull Shit X 10.
I will answer you on a point by point basis...but, Momma says we gotta go to town, now. There goes fifty miles and two hours of my life...again. sigh..
I'll be back...in a bit.

somewhat pertinent, at least to the head-in-the sand response by some, are these words from a great Delaware resident from the past:

Re: come on, Darkhorse, bring what you have....

Henry Ford-Model T
Eli Whitney-cotton gin/manufacturing
Sam Colt-one part fits all
Karl Marx-nothing for everybody
Slick-the cuckoo clock that whines
R_D-mediocrity that 'shines

Intelligent people are having an intelligent discussion on an intelligent subject .....
... and along comes Pud with his one sentence intellect, his Hee-Haw gibberish, and his plethora of laughing smilies trying to fit into an adult conversation.
Sad.

A Numerical Control milling center can allow
one man or woman do the work of 100 skilled machinists of
50 years ago, and have a near zero scrap rate.
Same goes for most manufacturing equipment.
Commieshit it is clear that you are STUPID.
Automation makes us all live better than
any ultra rich robber baron of 100 years ago.
Automation will continue to better our living standard
for the foreseeable future.
All you can do is pine away for your looser cunt HITLERy.
We won, you lost.
get over it.

What do the 100 skilled machinists and the manufacturing employees now do for a living?
