Something different

Post by Wullie »

Maybe I'll start shooting black powder cartridge guns again. I gathered up this old beauty last week. Hardest part is going to be to figure out what cartridge it uses. It's an oddball for sure. Action is German barrel made by the esteemed Harry Pope. Caliber looks to be around 11mm. Until I run a slug though the barrel and measure it I won't know for sure. Then a chamber casting for the cartridge, and then the fun starts.

Here ya go. It's got a goofy looking brass spindle on top. I think it had amongst it's its' now long gone accessories a stand that held the rifle vertical so you could wipe the bore between shots. I think that brass post was to seat into the stand to help hold the rifle still while you messed with it. It also had a false muzzle to protect the muzzle that is a memory as well.
