human nature would sort of dictate that folks tend to think of themselves before the society as a whole.

speaking of the need for some serious re-education. Start with the usage of the word you're, and go from there. Thanks for once again illustrating the truth of one statement I made....you ARE far too stupid to
get it. Enjoy your continued ass-raping, after you remove the 'communists'.

Most American Democrats are simply neocommunists.
YOU might pass as a socialist. But I doubt it.

That personifies you exactly Slick and is a huge tell on your forum name. Some of the folks posting here have devoted the greater portion of their life, to the "greater good" of society, risking all that they had. Millions of people in this country every day make that sacrifice, to include, Military,Police and Fire Fighters. Compared to those others? You have not "earned" the right to talk your "theoretical crap". You have been given that right, by them. Much like the dull witted fellow who uses/abuses his "welfare atm card" at the casino? Yeah, you have the "right", but you are wrong.

you're wrong. Sort of funny, though, as Scott Brown will turn out, when all is said and done, to be at best a very pragmatic 'conservative'. I like the guy, myself, so far.

One of the great fallacies that gets expounded is that 'military, police, firefighters' are the only ones who give to society or risk anything for it. People in all walks of life, everyday, contribute to a society, in ways that are too numerous to count. When you, as you do, discount the value of others' contributions, and dismiss their opinions, you do yourself, your nation and those individuals a great disservice. I won't go so far as to say your views are un-American, but definitely counterproductive.

Yay, though I walk through the valley of wealth, I will fear no evil...I will count my money and embrace my blessings....I will share my contempt and disdain with those counterproductive and un-American persons..... all who made it possible...

My personal gain is worth more than than their sacrifices....I have the right to rake it in and they have the right to be "raked over"...

I have the right to talk of other's sacrifices and I have the right to put them down for it. I balance my check book and they balance my freedoms. We are equals. As a good American, I will always buy their right to die for me. Tomorrow, I will celebrate it.

it's not about paying, it's about giving. There's a difference, and whether someone gives through military service, or gives through mentoring kids at a youth center, or working a food pantry, or by teaching adults to read, the country is both better and safer for it. Because, the healthier the society is, the easier it is for freedom to flourish and the whole nation to work together. And, as Lincoln noted, unity is where the true strength of a nation lies.

And, therein are my thoughts on this, Independence Day in the US of A.
Best wishes to my friends abroad as well, but this is a special one for us, today.
