you might be right. In a bizarre way, we're sort of lucky that the Chinese have SO much in the way of US Currency IOU's. They won't put up with any such change, at least not right at the moment.

I don't know if you can get your head around this concept, but all the lead(and delivery systems for it) really don't mean shit, unless you've got something to protect that will carry you through. Now, if you've got enough food and water to live and barter for other shit, your choice may be a good one. I'll opt for silver and copper and what gold I bought before it got to a silly price(thanks, TV advertisers, you made me a nice profit!), and figure I can hire enough lead to keep the whole enterprise safe. Frankly, it is just such a scenario that I really don't want to live through. I probably won't ever have to, but I can see my kid or my grandkid having to make exactly that sort of gameplan......

agreed, it's never a pretty scenario, gets back to a sort of cave-man mentality. Your scenario seldom seems to play out, historically, but I agree, I don't wish to test it, or live in that sort of world.
