Hell, slick why not just give them your checkbook? Then you won't have to worry about them taking what's left of it. They can continue to apply it where they see fit and you won't have to be bothered with the small details.

Set an example and re-distribute your wealth from down low instead of having it done from on high.

Here's a part of a speech from your soft spoken intellectual boy to tide you over until your afternoon gin and tonic.

Nice clip there Wullie....

Nice gibberish there Slick & Cuda....

How's that bill reading coming along? 2400 pages? In what should have been a maximum of twenty pages....and no new criminal laws to prevent the "fleecing" of the citizens....Seems like the only new jobs being created are in the paper industry and the shredder industry....

It's a good thing that Obama and company have not undertaken the re-write of the ten commandments....that would entail truck loads of paper, what with all their "loopholes", exceptions, taxes and exclusions....

It really is as simple as the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Amendments and the Will of the people....not 2400 pages at a time of bull shit and circumvention.....

My new understanding of the NAACP and what it stands for:

New African American Communist Party

Remember that in November.......

My applogies if you didn't understand my comments.

Pud. I guarantee that I am everybit the conservative that you are. and probably even more so, but the difference between us is, you think shouting louder than the other guy or belittling him will get your point across, if you think you'll change anyones mind with this tact your mistaken, that is just playground antics.

you sell yourself short, IMHO, Cuda. Because, from what I've read here, you seem to realize how things work and sacrifice to make a better life for your family, when needed. You realize the critical importance of education, you understand the nature of discourse and compromise. The playground antics you describe are beyond ineffective, they are counter-productive, and actually serve those who like things to stay just the way they are. It really isn't about 'conservative', 'liberal' or the like, it's about a system of governance which, is, as Ben Franklin put it well, "a republic, if you can keep it". And, even more so in an increasingly smaller and interdependant world, that republic depends on an educated, informed, reasonable population to keep it.

you're welcome. Damned shame we really didn't have the national will to establish National Health care, as I would've gladly paid for that, too. No matter what money you take, I do hope your customers pay you, but I cannot figure how that relates to what I wrote.

clearly, you don't get the point. My checkbook isn't going to get 'taken' by anyone that I see. I do see a risk if one of the nuttier factions takes over, and I have to kick in to fix their damage, but that won't happen.
You think my analysis was harsh? Take some time off in the coming weeks, and may I suggest a few road trips:
1. Head up to Saratoga, pay your way into the Clubhouse and go hang around the bar. See what stock they put in the Tea Party movement. Wear a blue blazer and tan slacks, it's the uniform.
2. Go and talk to the parents and students as they check into Phillips Exeter for another year of prep school
(this task is for you, Happy). See if the economy concerns THEM.
3. Hang out at the White Marlin Open in Maryland(I'll be at this one), and see how the Communists have crimped the lifestyles of the participants.

These are the folks who pay for the campaigns in this nation. Including Obama's. They aren't running out of cash, and don't figure to be. They know that so long as their kids get educated well, and cultivate the network that is politics in America, their families will be just fine. They would laugh in your face at your stupidity, as they know Obama will take care of their interests every bit as well as George H.W. Bush did. Further, they know the ultimate arbiters, the Supreme Court, have their back. You think it's some sort of weird accident that every last justice went to either Harvard or Yale?

The odd thing that seems clearer by the day is that the extreme right and extreme left are pissed off about the same sort of stuff: declining standards of living for the bulk of the population, loss of control over one's life, etc. But both groups are led by folks with money to make and jobs to keep by selling stupid, impractical, easy, blame-someone solutions to complex problems. Meanwhile, the rich just keep sending their kids to good schools, grabbing the best jobs, paying for access to the political system and laughing to the bank. So,as long as both groups drive the public discussion by focusing on stupidity(great links to examples, above, from the usual suspects here), and polarizing each other, the status quo remains. And, that status quo doesn't do a whole lot of you simpletons many favors.

You want to see change? Maybe, you might wish to focus on an amendment that sharply reduces the cost of running for office and makes third party and independant candidacies practical. That would be a start, but will never happen as long as the stupid keep driving the discussion.......
