There are tons of Barrett .50's in civilian hands here. There's a .50 cal shooters club at our local gun range. If Joe pulled a stunt like that he wouldn't last long.

What, does one have to be an asshole to be a trucker?Wullie wrote:Spoken like a true trucker!oFZo wrote:Yay! People die! w00t!
Tell me something, I've heard that all the "big rigs" in the European community have fully synchronized transmissions. Is that true?
And yes, modern European big rigs have robotic transmissions. The one I drive mostly is an old-school stick, two splitters.

No, but it helps. What, does one have to be an asshole to be a trucker?

old school stick, two splitters? LOL
This was my "town rig". All the pictures I had of the BIG trailer got lost in a hard drive crash.

That was the last truck I drove before I quit trucking after 3,000,000 miles and 28 years in '01

V8 Mack with an air shift 4x4, it would pull the world if you could get a hook on it.
Axle snapping son of a bitch. Carried two spare axles on the headache rack.
Trailer is a 53' with a 12" pin setting. You could tear up a lot of shit going around a corner with that punk.
6" to 10" of ground clearance.
Top speed 86MPH, loaded or empty. Took a pretty good hill to slow it down over a couple of cogs.
Gross was 144,000 with picker on the trailer. 88' length 12' 6" width
Tare weight 47,600, full fuel

I have to bring stuff deep into downtown areas of old European cities (mainly Dutch), no way your old rig would get there.
I mostly drive DAF 85, 95 or 105 with city trailers (refrigerated) with up to three axles, one steering axle. Average total weight is about 30.000 kgs, the maximum for "regular" transport in Yurp is 40.000. Length varies between 14 and 16,85 m (restricted by law).

There were more than a few places that I couldn't get into with that rig.
I did take it to downtown Dallas one afternoon and loaded a machine like one pictured. On the way out I had to get one of the steering the steering tires up on a sidewalk in order to swing it wide enough to keep the trailer out of a building.
It plowed about 40 feet of sidewalk. LOL
Most all of our our loads were "permit" loads. They told us what route to drive and when. Pretty much all daylight hours only with the big stuff. LOTS of hassles from the cops. It was interesting and it paid good.
