The goverment of North Korea is a Stalinist system gone bezerk.
The ruling dictator is sitting atop a pyramid of fear.
No one dares make a decision contrary to the "dear leader's" will.

That said the situation becomes more dangerous than any conflict
with other "communist" nations such as China.

With the DPRK you are dealing with one man. One very dangerous
man that has comitted acts of terror and murder against his own people
and outsiders. (including bombing an airliner in flight).

As I see it Kim has longed to fix the failure of his father. He longs
to defeat the US in battle. Just because we on the outside see any
nuclear action by Kim as suicide does not mean Kim see's it that way.
The only thing keeping Kim from detonating a nuke under a US warship
is that he is not suicidal. We must keep him convinced that using a nuke
against any one will result in the total destruction of dear leader and his
Stalinist anthill.
